04/4/2002 08:34 | mikeran - cheers. Didn't know the BP. news. royce - you've hit the nail succinctly on the head. Some of my FTSE candles are minute in comparison and the Dow jumping still failed to liven it up and it confirms Specto's view on our decoupling from the US. | big al 39

04/4/2002 08:24 | Big Al-- BAY airline news, plus for info BP expected to issue a trading statement to-day. The airline sector is also expected to gleam attention early on, after the UK government said it has won the right to have its appeal heard against the European Court of Human Rights ruling banning night flights into Heathrow airport. The court's Grand Chamber will now re-run the case, which is expected to take a year. But news that air passengers face having to pay an environmental charge of up to 50.00 stg a ticket under a European plan to force airlines to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, according to The Times reported, could put pressure on the sector. The charge could be imposed on all airlines within two years, adding 50.00 stg to the cost of flying from London to California, 35.00 stg to flights to New York and between 5.00 stg and 10.00 stg to flights within Europe, the newspaper said | mikeran

04/4/2002 08:22 | Barc very weak, | ruth
04/4/2002 08:18 | Strange - it's interest rate day and there's little or no comment. That's a first I can remember round here as it's often top of the agenda. How times change, eh?! EDIT - on trading, it's been very difficult all last month for me. Distinct lack of direction on the FTSE, despite Dow temporarily breaking north (now back in the fold?), has not given any direction or the volatility you need. | big al 39
04/4/2002 08:17 | Thanks ruth :-) was curiosity | mishark

04/4/2002 08:09 | Croc, Ruth, anyone else... For how long do you think the markets have been hard to trade? i.e. not how long will they be like this, but how long have they been like this?? | mishark
04/4/2002 08:09 | Morning all. Still long BP., but uncertain where it may go. Looking over the past couple of weeks and comparing it to the oil price, much good news was and remains in it. Expect a rise in techs and will continue to get in and out of RB., which is shaping up into a decent day trading share, but you have to keep a close eye on it as there's always gaps both sides. Am also looking at airlines. BAY must get hit by high oil and having to cut prices to compete. Price has been hit, but must be more in it longer term. Good luck | big al 39 |
