Looking at how the markets are behaving this morning it looks like I have made the wrong call.

Think we are going to get ' mullered ' This afternoon.

I am going to do what I do best on a Friday.

Open fridge get some cold ones and sit in the garden and contemplate my vegetables.

Have a good weekend all.

Lovely day today.
Hit 170p on good results recently, then dropped back. mad that it not above that before today's rise.
GLA.

Ps - down to a derisory 9.43% divi now :(

This looks a likely candidate for the quadruple witching tomorrow judging from the late evening action today.

Will maybe leave a bid in the morning but have to see how the states behaves tonight.

Good luck those who have been patiently suffering in silence.

Very true Pierre.

Won't this get a nose bleed if it stays above 150p for too long.

Yes net, in the tech boom days, train going North would add 20% to a tech share. Better still was rocket taking off, which reliably would add 40%. These days, you have to say things like ' double top with failed Bannucci cross' to try to ramp the price up.

It is sometimes used as a metaphor for expecting a steep rise in share price if used in conjunction with the word north.

Think sometimes one needs to let off steam.

Not much else going on

OK, a not unpleasant diversion in to trains and railways...but if we could wander back on-topic and stay there that would be appreciated. Thanks all

The 'filmography' section of the bluebell railway list hundreds of films and tv episodes - probably due to its location nearish London and each station being decked out for a different time period. (If you've been to tenerife, I've been to elevenerife!). Railway children, Downton Abbey, Theory of everything and 80% of other films with steam trains in. (posted out of interest). I hope to be in the cab of SNG at East Grinstead, just for a looksie, not driving it! I'll also be on the bridge at Horsted Keynes station, right above the chimney, for a refreshing dose of A4 coal smoke and steam, just like the old days!

o/t, but this isn't a premium thread is it, so can't get kicked off.

Abrdn sold the rights to the name Standard Life to Phoenix I believe but Abrdn retain an approx. 10% holding in PHNX.

Never seen the Sir Nigel Gresley. I believe it was one of the loco's that pulled the Flying Scotsman train. There would have been several of the type pulling those carriages over the years.

About 17 years back when I first started delivering for a charity one of the old chaps I met was a driver on the LNER line and told me how he often drove the Loco on the Flying Scotsman. A very interesting fellow with a great story from the war period when he was a 15 year old fireman on a footplate. One of the Loco's was refurbished in Pete Waterman's Birmingham engine shed and ran it's test on the East Lancs Railway between Heywood and Rawtenstall. It passed over a bridge that was once used as the backdrop for a film about The Great Train Robbery.

Sorry, bit off topic there.

Yeah, that's the Watercress line. I think they have a streak too.

As to a new name for brnda, how about 'Mallard Life'.

Thanks we sometimes go to Arlsford near Winchester - there is a steam train there.

If you're interested in steam trains net, Sir Nigel Gresley is on the Bluebell next month, a short drive from Guildford. From the days when the uk led the world in such stuff (built in Doncaster!), A4s hold the record for the fastest steam train. See it before the greens realise it burns coal and force it to be battery driven.

Anyhow, no probs with abnrd, just buy, sit back, take divis and get richer without staring at a laptop scree all day. Oh, and also hope for a name change to something sensible. Not sure if they still own the rights to Standard Life. Anyone?

Of the big divi finance stocks ABDN appears to have the most room for heading NORTH - so if the new director lights the touch paper we should see "Steam Train heading north"

Windsor is going to find it very tough imo.
This company has been in decline for years and I would prefer someone to take it out.
Of course for a nice premium!!

All things being equal and the dividend maintained at these levels????

This has to be a stand out share for income investors at these levels but struggling to make any headway alongside its contemporaries.

Flint and latterly Bird have a lot to answer for .

Good luck everyone.
