Does anyone still think that the dividend will be maintained at the current level.

Is only a question of when and not if the dividend is cut.

Cross holding in phoenix ?

And dividend paid like phoenix in equal instalments

The chair Douglas Flint has presided over the calamitous fall in the share price and has to go as he has let down the countless shareholders.

Will look to buy if dips to 132/133 level but otherwise remains unloved and unwanted by this particular investor

In my view now is not the time to sell. Hopefully the worst is behind all of the undervalued UK shares paying what would normally be dividend yields that indicate a dividend cut but I expect a lot to start to rerate as interest rates finally start to fall, with the dividend yields also starting to fall as the shares rerate and the markets have had plenty of time to price in the new Labour government and if Labour keep to their pledge to be fiscally responsible, this could be the time to hold/buy underrated UK shares rather than sell.

Up from 143.15p on 14/6 to 159.55 now = +11.46%. I would normally be selling but that dividend of 9.13% is difficult to match. If I had more shares I would take some profit and keep some in the hope of rising to the 180p range. From experience whatever I do is almost certainly going to be the wrong thing. Somehow my glass always seems half empty.

Tempted to sell the 3285 shares before market close today.
Now at 158.05 and looking at the chart - hitting a resistance point it has failed to rise above in the past 3-4 months.

I sold the whole holding. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Long time no read CI. Morning to you.

I've got a £5k punt on ABDN - bought at £1.513 on 21 May 2023. Another 4p rise and I'm selling.

I note the market is generally up and PHNX and LGEN certainly are. I'm guessing ABDN is simply riding the wave rather than any specific news or event causing its rise.

Happy to be corrected.

1 week before things become clearer I hope but in the meantime solvency wins for me

Suet,

Just to echo MCunliffe1's answer. I consolidated three pots into ii SIPP five years ago, when I retired. I'm currently in drawdown on the SIPP. I'm very happy with ii and would recommend to anyone.

Cheers,
PJ

Oh, forgot about the ii APP. Very good. Allows me to do what I need when on holiday but the display is not as easy as a large screen - small issue that really.

Hiya suet. And thanks wllmherk.

I transferred back in March 2023 from Std Life to ii.
I had checked both HL and AJ Bell re. costs etc. and decided that ii suited me most.
I earned about £400 as a sweetener for the transfer of £198,800 from S.L. This was paid directly into my nominated bank account about three months after creating the SIPP and was based upon the value trf over.

I needed to liquidate all my pension plans at S.L. first as the trf. was to be in cash. There were some issues with S.L. that I'd anticipated and written to S.L. prior to the move. They ignored my concerns, undertook exactly what I'd expected them to do and was mighty glad I had finally escaped their clutches. They don not listen to their client's concerns or suggestions.

From the outset, interest was paid into the SIPP cash account on or about the 26th of each month. Before I started to invest in shares I was receiving £370-£390 a month depending on the cash amount.

For the first six months I paid no platform fee - part of the incentive. Now, I pay £12.99 each month but still earn about £270 a month in intersst on the £70k still in cash. The rate is tiered and over £100k earns more.

I find the platform on my desktop PC is quite good. One improvement I have brought to ii's attention and I'd like to think they would at least consider it.

They have one fault that was a problem with my firefox browser, but that problem disappeared when I started to use Microsft Edge instead.

I am very pleased with ii's quite sppedy responses to questions and issues. Far, far better than S.L.

I drew-down in March 2024 for the first time from ii. I had drawn-down each March with S.L. in the previous six years. It was relatively easy to do this with ii but I did need to 'phone them about one aspect that was unclear. The helpful chap at ii stayed on the line as I was online and guided me through each step and over the hurdle I'd hit an issue with. Again, I made some suggestions as to how the wording online should be changed to make that aspect clearer. I hope they apply such.

The taxation was a pain, it appears you cannot get HMRC to apply a tax code to your SIPP provider until after you have made the first withdrawal. Odd, and stupid in my view. However, an early submission of the self-asessment forms and the P60 proof of taxation from ii and HMRC repaid me with six working days the tax they'd overcharged because of the PAYE system.

I would recommend ii SIPP to anybody.

Check if you have any mates with ii SIPP or similar. If they 'introduce' you to ii both you and that intriducer may get a cash bonues thankyou.

Sorry to all ABDN posters for slightly off-topic issue here but some bits may be relevant to others and ABDN do own ii - at least for the moment ;-)

Good luck suet.

Oh, I also have a Quilter ISA investment, setup by a broker in Nottingham who I 'met' on a share chat-room many years ago. I now manage the investment myself and use it to fund the occasional special holiday. Ambivalent re. Quilter and their predecessor, Skandia.
