Ditto capitalist. I use the filter button on users who offer one liners with no research. I find it very useful to read posts with opposing thoughts to my own as they provoke me into questioning my decisions which is a good thing.

From yesterday, my question to Investor Relations:

"4D pharma collaborates with MSD to develop Live Biotherapeutics for vaccines" issued on the 08/10/2019

It has been a year since the initial RNS and we have had no further news on this front.

A question relating to this and the three indications that were chosen for the collaboration. Were these indications determined before the collaboration or was it open and have you since changed to try to develop a vaccine for Covid-19?

IR response which was pretty much as I expected, the deal is definitely behind closed doors:

The Merck vaccines collaboration is, as you might imagine, subject to strict confidentiality agreements so unfortunately at this moment we are unable to provide any additional specifics, including the target indications. The collaboration is progressing well and we are pleased with the progress made to date.

I thought it was a fair question to be honest but I thought I would get the response that I did.

It's nice to read reasoned and reasonable thoughts on a BB. Some of the posts people put up on other BB's are simply awful.

when big cap pharma has a hit there is a less profound increase in share price due to dilution amongst their vast portfolio, a small cap hit far greater however many small cap pharma have a very limited portfolio general targeting one or two projects for success, hence a failure has a dramatic impact on value.... 4d has taken a dramatic hit (on a perceived failure) yet has quite a portfolio of projects more akin to a larger company.... I feel it's more a case of recognition within the U.K. market of the tech employed by 4d not yet being accepted as mainstream than any failings of the company itself.

I have found some incredibly informative posts on here, others are funny. Many are of interest, others leave me wondering on their mental capacities, mostly those that seem to have a strange agenda probably bored school children or such like ! However, these forums are for pi's therefore one should not expect the level of knowledge you would expect from professionals. There will be a mixed bag regarding knowledge and the ability to research, just as there will be different styles of investing. People make genuine errors, we may get concerns over our investment, or overly enthusiastic about them. Its all part of being human. In these troubled times i need these forums to help me keep a miniscule amount of sanity if nothing else ! As forums go, i think this one does a lot better than many.

As a bit of reverse psychology, people who claim to have zillions of shares and are adding more can be useful insight to watch that share very closely to consider offloading a few... I find their pumping very helpful insight as a reality check on my position, however suggesting adding 4d at 80p 90p 100p after a considerable drop due to a bad market reaction I don't consider overly pumping a share but reasonable comment, the recent drop imho I see as an unexpected opportunity for new investors to enter at a reasonable price.... that's not to say it won't go down further, just a great entry point

People who've only been here a month are entitled to ignorance and being nervous.

Personally as an old hand who has been here for a year and purchased at 100p originally and also some top ups at 25p I'm happy to add more here at 150p even prior to IBS readout

I expect IBS readout to be good

I think there have been misunderstandings with regard to the technical language used in some of the news we have received in recent months. There was a whole discussion about terms like " futile " and "non futile" and that was taken the wrong way by some causing them to sell. The IBS news last week was taken the wrong way despite the company wanting to take it to the next stage phase 3 trial. That wouldn't be the case if the drug had no future as the phase 3 trials are costly and time consuming.
Certain posters on here are do their research and share it with others. Most post links to substantiate their claims. There is no harm in having a guess where the share price might go in the future, thats a bit of fun, you can't tell me people invest on the back of that !

Myles McNulty is in a different class to stig. Indeed, they should not be mentioned in the same breath.
That said use people like MM to get potential companies to invest in but don't do it solely on his or anyone else's recommendation, research it yourself before investing.
I'd also be wary of shares that have already risen considerably. Of course they can continue the rise but very often they don't and one is left stranded at high water.
There are always plenty of other fish in the sea. Afterall, we cannot be invested in everything.

I'll leave you with a good rule of thumb.
Be very, very wary of anyone who talks about price and multi baggers on these forums. Particularly when they get into double or triple figures. And be very wary of those that talk about the number of shares they own, often in the hundreds of thousands and sometimes more.
They are nearly always working to an agenda, to which of course they are the beneficiary.

Thanks for the reply.

A partnership was always the stated intention anyway and so at this stage it's somewhat premature to say that it isn't a success. My reading of that data on P10 of the presentation is that there's nothing better currently on the market and Blautix is actually a stand alone for IBSC and IBSD combined patients.
The market said no because folk were spooked by "not statistically significant" and the "p values" and the fall was exacerbated by the rampers, including those talking about 100 baggers. Like I said there are many naive and inexperinced people on these boards. One only has to read the comment sections for confirmation, if needed.

Success of Blautix will only be determined if they find a partner to take it to phase 3. At the current share price the market has already pencilled in "No, they won't". 4D have a long way to go and I still believe they have enough in the pipeline to blow some of the negative sentiment (deliberately expressed in a few cases) out of water. I am a holder, DYOR!

Edit: I do believe Stig is an honest 'broker' though a little sensitive, undiplomatic at times. Keep going man.

Daveweld, i am a greater believer in taking responsibility for your own investments. If you are not able to do that then you need to go and employ a financial advisor. Stig has been extremely helpful to me and a great asset to have on board. We live in difficult times i guess we all get a bit up tight at times, several of my friends are definitely struggling with our current restrictions.

Beaujolly, it's taken some time for me to come to my own conclusions that blautix was a success, not in share price action but in statistical reality to ibs sufferers

Posts 10701 & 11094 by Stig show a pretty fair perspective of 4d, he doesn't decide when I personally press the buy/sell button but offers very useful info for me to research and form my own opinions

One could of course go and look at the previous posts made by Mccrudden and zydecoco to get a better view of where they might be coming from.

Good post Daveweld.

From that post do we deduce that you view the Blautix trial a failure as well ?
There's a poster in the O&G sector called Pro S2009. He has got the tactic of sucking the inexperienced and the naive into shares off to a fine art. He deramps when he's looking for a cheap entry and then when in, he has the gall to ramp them to high heaven.
He's knowledgeable and well researched, just the tools his type need to influence people's decisions.
Experienced investors soon saw through his tactics and he now has quite a bad reputation, in that sector of the market, where the sensible just use the research and as you suggest, make their own decisions. The problem lies with those that don't, the targets of his deceitful tactics and as I said earlier, they are normally the naive and the inexperienced.
Stig has clearly got issues. Any person that displays evidently uncontrolled rage at people on a bulletin board cannot be classed as normal. What of course he doesn't realise is that his character comes back to bite him in the butt. He posts ramps for shares he promotes all over advfn and I know for a fact that many people do not even read them because of the name of the author.
At the end of the day you make your bed and it's you that has to lie in it.

McRudden is pointing out that in his opinion, based on his experience, Stig is manipulating the sentiment here and so taking advantage of private investors for his own gain
