Times a comin to buy BUT will you all pick the right price. Gosh - aint it exciting (well, it is when you are already sitting on a PILE of profits from this company). Of course, there's a PILE more to come....but there has to be the occasional tree shake (thats when all the loose holders fall to the ground in great confusion - and the ardent 'scrumpers' like me come pick up the fallen ones.) It really amazes me that, most of the 'investors' arent investors at all. They are quick deal artists and there IS a place for such persons but they would be best advised not to trade in Mears cos its really not a volatile enough stock (til the tree shakes).
Having successfully started a wing at the Clinic for offspring of the idle rich who cannot keep their hands off others folks property I am, now, tempted to cater for the 'Investors' who cannot differentiate between a gambling stock and an Investment. It will include a poker school where all the excitement they will ever need is generated and, if they are good, they might beat me.What could be better, take their fees AND their spare cash.

Well i'm out - hit my stop-loss which I just set as tight on this one not believing it would move as sharply down . Smells of MM tree shake rather than profit taking to me. Good luck to all.

Stinking day at the office ! Seems like a lot of profit taking going on here which may have been a shrewd move as record profits have just been posted and the share price did not move. Maybe its found its limit ?

LIKE Old Man River, the Mears Group just keeps rolling along. The support services group, which specialises in the area of social housing maintenance, is riding on the crest of a wave of Government initiatives to raise housing standards in the public sector.

Turnover in 2004 soared more than 50% to £172m and, with £526m worth of new contracts won during the year, the order book has soared to £815m. Profits leapt to £6.7m from £4.8m and house brokers Arbuthnot have raised their target for the current year to £10m with a 'buy' recommendation.

But that is just on organic growth, and chairman Bob Holt is looking for something more, saying: 'We are able and willing to make significant acquisitions that further our strategic ends and enable us to improve or broaden our services.' It would be no surprise if that translated into a fairly major deal in the next 12 months.

Although still an Aim company, Mr Holt has visions of Mears becoming one of the Stock Exchanges' top 250 companies over the next couple of years, and this is a man whose visions do not turn out to be mirages.

hosede - as you suggest it must be the market down turn that is preventing an upward move with the increase lost just holding its own. Cracking time to buy for anyone with a bit a spare cash tho.

I think investors have just got used to MER's results being brilliant - at least it's not down - most of the rest of my monitor is VERY red

Don't really get this - results excellent in every qtr yet the share price remains unchanged. Man U announce reduced profits and the share price goes up, funny old market !

Ah, Fair enough. Just a bit boring innit?

No reason the long term trend shouldn't continue. Great results + Statement IMHO.

Be well.

Yet another who has been 'impressed' by Mr Holt. He even has a 'fan' club, you know. Mind you, its only the girls at the Choccobix factory who saw his impressive appearance on a Channel 4 business show. At least its a start and I personally will only begin to worry when its the 'Guys at the Steel Works' who write him.

I know that you are a respected chartist and was wondering what your thoughts were on the share price over the up and coming months?

Regards

Well done yourself Dave just added a few more to some long termers in a sipp which I got a while back after meeting Bob Holt at Winchcombe a couple of years ago.He made a lasting impression and needless to say this has been a brilliant investment.Looks to be creating more interest on the run up to results.

Ah... Thanks Fingers!

nice to see you still around, I liked your pictures on MER thanks very much. For every person that thanks you there must be another 20+ that read and appreciate your thoughts! Keep it up.

Nice company MER, Can't believe they dont generate more interest on here. If only they were more 'exciting'...
