01/2/2005 10:14 | Oh. I forgot to say, Gentlemen, that I MAY have a real hot patoosie coming up - and its already appeared on the postings on ADVFN. You must realize that, having lectured about the crass handling of Mears trades, I must ensure MY entry into the lists is achieved with the minimum of fuss and price disturbance. | deehill
31/1/2005 21:58 | I offered the MMs 5 shares and a lightbulb but they didn't seem interested. | tinker
31/1/2005 21:09 | fingers xxd - 31 Jan'05 - 20:41 - 1702 of 1703 At the end of Dec I highlighted MER - MEARS, as it 'popped its head' above 205.00p, and I stated that it looked ready to go, and should move quickly to 225.00p .. it didn't disappoint. I was quite surprised when it started to move off again after just a week, and so I highlighted it again with its next target of 250.00p .. it didn't disappoint. .. and now after just another brief rest for a week, its off yet again, so I thought I'd keep the rhythm going by highlighting its next target as 275.00p :-) terry91 - 31 Jan'05 - 20:44 - 1703 of 1703 Nice one Fingers | ![]() cambium
31/1/2005 17:26 | I already have purchased a small Sth American country - at least my accountants will tell you so. Mind you, I did it with a great deal more finesse than has been used this day on Mears. This must be some of the most inept dealing to date.It smacks of some sort of switch into Mears. Of course, when you follow that sort of course it's advisable to ensure that there is sufficient stock in the market to allow you to trade. Now, one of the stocks pushed DOWN, in equally clumsy trading, -= on Friday - was another service industry company about which there have been some disturbing rumors. The rumors today concerning Mears have been that, faced with acute stock shortage, they have been bidding existing holders - perhaps Tinker can testify (its more difficult to get hold of me. Even Mr Holt must wish he had waited a week!!! | deehill
31/1/2005 16:00 | Take off occurred after 600K shares were exchanged - any thoughts? | mikeb01
31/1/2005 15:56 | Agree. This is all very nice but a bit heady for MER. Mind you deehill can probably afford to buy a small South American country now. | tinker
31/1/2005 14:02 | we could do with consolidating at this price for a bit. | ![]() yam114
31/1/2005 10:39 | If Mr Stuart is as astute at Mears as he is in his stock purchases i.e. 10K profit in ONE WEEK he is obviously an asset worth retaining. | deehill
31/1/2005 09:18 | passed tense tinker, its 250+ to buy now :o) | ![]() cambium
29/1/2005 13:00 | and C. that 240 is a good price to buy at!! | tinker
29/1/2005 12:09 | Incidentally. I would estimate that the 100.000 debut purchase by Stuart Black means two things. A. He wants to stay and B. They have decided that he can!!! | deehill
29/1/2005 11:49 | God. Its good to be released from that detox center. When I return to the scene I find the doubters beginning to creep in. Firstly, Cambium, we cannot expect EVERY write up to be glowing. As the Telegraph newspapers show, there is always room for criticism. They downed Mears in Jan '04 and they proceeded to DOUBLE and they, then, trashed them in Jan '05 and they put on about 40p and will, undoubtedly, show the 'Telegraph' a good pair of heels by Jan '06. In the meantime, we have had the astounding growth in Jan '05 and this, perhaps, is going to have to suffice for a six month. All this excitement is not good for a stock such as Mears. They need to grow slowly and steadily without all this trashy, flashy jumping up. The BIG question, now, is can they HOLD the rise. Because, if they cannot, then there will be a further buying opportunity which the doubters will miss, but the sensible person's, like Tinker, will use to line their boots with once more. Rest assured, allowing that markets themselves do not dissolve there is nothing internally that will permit the Mears price to be much less than 300p come the year end. Of course, if you bet for MORE - then you could be a big winner. | deehill
27/1/2005 17:03 | Hm....... good reply, I think I will Ta | ![]() blindfaith2
27/1/2005 12:42 | Then treble it!! | tinker
27/1/2005 09:54 | I thought mid 240's was high and expected the price to fall back but with an internal buy like this the Directors must still be very confident of another hike. Maybe the accounts are even better than Mr Holt thought which would explain the timing of this size of purchase. Had thought about selling and taking the profit but just can’t bring myself to do so, I guess this is what’s called greed as I have already all but doubled my money here. | ![]() blindfaith2
25/1/2005 09:41 | Not just selling. From Sharecast, 20 Jan: "Chief operating officer Stuart Black remains upbeat about future prospects as he wrote a cheque for £240,000 to bag 100,000 shares at 240p. It is Black's first purchase following his admission to the board in November last year." deehill. My private plane is orange and called easyjet. A mite confusing I know but it keeps the papparazi off my tail. | tinker
21/1/2005 10:54 | See Jan 21 Daily Mail. | deehill
21/1/2005 10:31 | Tinker. I hope that the weather, natural and financial keep fine for you. I KNEW they would all be returning to the UK to locate the hidden stock certificates. I see the rise has not stopped this am with another 4p being clocked up. SURELY you rent your own plane? Yes Holt DID work for Mitie and knows exactly what he would return to, if he did. For myself, a return to the UK is NOT advisable at this time - I have even been advised against attending a funeral in the US of A -by the IRS who indicated they 'might detain' me at Philly airport.- They are like the Mob, they never let up and there are some, small, items, still outstanding. Instead I sent a hideous wreath and stayed in the sun. I dont know about Dry or Amontilado. I dont make em (they are fed to me by drip)but there could be bitters and egg as well. Most nourishing. | deehill
20/1/2005 18:11 | Would that be dry sherry or Amontilado? Gosh what a lot of excitement. I'm going back to the UK for the weekend (like to visit third world countries from time to time - gives one a sense of responsibility. I still contribute to their charity, Brownesco) for a late family Christmas so need to get my hangover cure ready. As for Bob Holt, didn't he come from Mitie? Guess he wouldn't go back - more likely sell up and join you in South America. | tinker
20/1/2005 16:09 | deehill - you seem a bit confused about what is a notifiable interest. 3% in most situations and 10% in some. Parties can take several days to notify the company. If directors are selling and institutions are buying is that good or bad... | ![]() rcturner2
20/1/2005 15:13 | Also from thisismoney.. Trading updates IT IS the time of year when companies give a tantalising glimpse of how the past 12 months have gone and what they might be saying in a few weeks time. The 'trading update' has become almost more important than the publication of premlinary results. Here is this week's crop: Mears: (My share of the year) The board says: 'Trading results for the year ended December 31, 2004, will be at the top end of market expectations. The order book is in excess of £800m. Due to the nature of the group's core business in social housing, a substantial amount of the turnover for the next 2 3 years has already been contracted to the group. The healthy pipeline of both outstanding tenders and future opportunities combined with a sound balance sheet provides a very stable platform for predictable future growth. Accordingly the directors remain confident in the future prospects of the group.' | ![]() seanworld |
