10/5/2024 00:31 | Anglo American’s key South African shareholders are open to a takeover offer from BHP.... The investors, which collectively hold more than 15 per cent of Anglo, told the Financial Times that BHP would need to sweeten its offer but they were not opposed in principle to an acquisition by the Australian group. | philanderer
09/5/2024 21:55 | It ain't going for less than 30. | pander45
09/5/2024 15:49 | Yeah based on the jump if it was going to be 3000 it would move to 2900 and something I think. 2800 sounds more realistic to me too. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
09/5/2024 15:38 | Pander , I reckon a revised bid is coming but not near 3000p ... 2800p maybe ? | philanderer
09/5/2024 15:19 | 30 bid incoming? | pander45

08/5/2024 13:58 | It is a tricky one. If the takeover interest is going to fizzle out, now would be a good time to sell and look to repurchase cheaper. On the other hand, if hopes are bouyed by revised /improved offers from BHP and Glen (and perhaps others) now is not the time to be out. Personally, I have never much liked Anglo's fine diamonds business, which requires a lot of expenditure to buy in stones to keep the market tight, and upon fashion for sales volume. It does provide diversification, but if they could find someone to unload that to now that competitors are running the rule over their assets I would applaud. | 1knocker
08/5/2024 11:05 | The BHP CEO went to South Africa last week, I presume to talk to politicians. If BHP put in a revised bid it will be some kind of an indication that they think they can complete the purchase. Or have I got it wrong as usual? | cobourg1
08/5/2024 10:55 | Games not over yetI do think they will put in a revised offer capping at 30.00 | foxy22
08/5/2024 10:36 | BHP offer was opportunist only. They want it at a cheap price and split the business, not going to happen imho | bargainsniper
06/5/2024 17:54 | Quite an interesting and informative audio discussion. I have a subscription to Bloomberg so I don't know if it works without one. One takeout was the fact that BHP will not overpay for Anglo and if it gets difficult will probably walk in the opinion of the commentators. They are apparently keen to acquire something as they have a lot of income, so may look elsewhere if they get stopped here. Taking over Anglo does look difficult because of the South African connection and I would have thought will take a long time and a lot of negotiations. Back in cash now with some profit after the Glencore rumour and not knowing what to do. If the BHP share price really drops as a result of this bid, that could be a good investment for the long term. I note that Glencore is involved in a billion dollar deal for some Shell assets in Singapore as well as assimilating Teck Resources so may not want to get involved with Anglo, especially, as they are up against the heavyweight BHP. All as clear as mud. | cobourg1
06/5/2024 16:42 | Phil - it's behind a pay-wall but I get the drift. hopefully a boost to AAL. share price in the morning! | eggbaconandbubble

04/5/2024 08:15 | egg bacon, there was no paywall when I read it yesterday but it’s behind one this morning. It was nothing more than saying SAfrica is the second largest shareholder and doesn’t want the company split up as BHP wishes. ‘Glencore-Angl | philanderer
04/5/2024 08:03 | At the current price, including dividends, I am in the blue, though not by a lot. I would not have predicted that a few weeks ago! Whether paper is attractive, and even whether the amount of paper offered is attractive depends upon whether one owns shares in the acquiring company. I have larger holdings in Glen and BHP than I do this, so I look at any deal more from an acquirer's than a seller's eye. There must be plenty of Anglo shareholders in the same position. | 1knocker
04/5/2024 07:13 | IMHO Aal shareholders wouuld be crazy to accept this offer sell @£26 with 100% shares than except 2% less shares @£22 no brainer BHP cannot in my option offer too much more as it will dilute the share price further with extra shares ,same goes for glen,Rio And anyone else who bids, paper is rubbish cash is king. | 84stewart

03/5/2024 08:03 | Yeah it seems the recent share price drop was some sort of small tree shake to try and get shares in the 2600 / 2700 range. Can the fresh news see us break and hold 2800??? Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
