25/4/2024 20:07 | Very nice to see this close at a fair way above the 2508 offer price. Bodes well that if this does go to BHP then they will have to seriously up their offer. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
25/4/2024 15:47 | The 1st rule of negotiation (and THE golden rule) - Do not accept the other party's first offer! | eggbaconandbubble
25/4/2024 15:42 | bigbigdave25 - It just proves how irrelevant they are! | juliemara
25/4/2024 15:31 | I wouldn’t be surprised if RIO was interested as well. It’s the copper that’s a huge part of this. | philanderer

25/4/2024 15:23 | Could well be right, EBandB. It would have been an especially clever thing to have done that yesterday, of course. | saltraider
25/4/2024 15:09 | If one holds BHP and AAL shares or just BHP shares alone, my hunch would be to sell all BHP holding and buy AAL with the cash. | eggbaconandbubble
25/4/2024 15:08 | i can see a battle between BHP and glencore bid for this tbh...not so for Rio. Still way too cheap for takeover it will keep creeping up to make bidders serious. BHP and Glencore have mountain of cash! | r88ave
25/4/2024 14:56 | Premature. | pander45
25/4/2024 14:18 | Just had a quick squint at BHP threads. 2%/3% dips are not unusual but little reaction or comment on the dip today after bid announcement. Back here, my younger head says "go ride the wave"; Older head says: "reduce AAL in SIPPs and buy some more gilts". The take another ski holiday (Spend Kids Inheritance). | penandnen
25/4/2024 13:22 | DZ BANK RAISES ANGLO AMERICAN TO 'HOLD' (SELL) - FW 2500 (1520) PENCE Really? Just playing catch up! | bigbigdave
25/4/2024 13:11 | Sold my AAL, it will take months if not years for any deal to complete, PGMs and Kumba have to be split off first. I can't see how BHP have valued them apart from a wild guess, so, the final value if the deal goes ahead depends on the float value of PGMs and Kumba and the value of BHP shares at the time. Too many variables. Might make people look at copper producers more so I've started to put some of the proceeds into CAML. | v11slr
25/4/2024 12:56 | I've started trawling around for brokers views. Probably a bit early to take any seriously yet. May 22 seems to be the deal date(or no deal date). I see one analyst suggesting £28.50 is nearer the mark to get this over the finish line. Smart money here will be guessing how the deal will be sweetened? | penandnen
25/4/2024 12:56 | You have to add notional values for the spinout of the PGMs and Kumba iron ore. | mattybuoy
25/4/2024 12:10 | I’m in a beach side cafe in Malaga and off the top of my head it looks to be around 2350p . It seems like the market is expecting more .Come on GLEN 😉 | philanderer
25/4/2024 11:40 | Having real problems working out what what the initial BHP offer is actually worth. I read it's 0.7097 BHP shares for 1 AAL, which doesn't make sense. Help, anyone? | aclark9201
25/4/2024 11:03 | I hold BHP and Anglo, and have a lot more BHP than i do Anglo. I guess it does not make a lot of difference to me what price Anglo goes for, assuming this comes to pass. the bigger question is whether this is a goood move for BHP. I rate the BHP management highly. I imagine there will be good many Anglo shareholders who also own BHP, and perhaps think more highly of the BHP than the Anglo management. | 1knocker
25/4/2024 10:25 | Misses and I were a bit overweight AAL (ISAs and SIPPs total £150K cost about 80%). OK, I heard somebody say: Lucky bar-steward! That’s the good news. Bad news I sold £7K yesterday afternoon seeing a rising price and thinking: Time to cut the risk back. MY beef is: What’s the point of all these compliance guys employed in the City? They hear the whispers and do FA. We, punters, you and me, “the unwashed”, are unworthy of a “fair market”. Rant over. So, how do I get my “losses” back? Where’s the AAL price going and what strategy should I adopt to exit. We have small holdings in BHP. Complicated, I’m just going to make another cup of coffee and ‘ave a think. | penandnen
25/4/2024 09:08 | It's a low starting offer | bargainsniper
25/4/2024 08:54 | Seeing AAL were trading around £17 a few months ago. And you purchased around this price. You are selling out. Also AAL year high is 2610p. | garycook
25/4/2024 08:36 | Many years ago BHP again wanted to take over RIO. The deal was aborted for almost the same reasons. IMO the offer will be rejected unless it is seriously improved. | fuji99
25/4/2024 08:30 | and cash would be better, if I wanted BHP shares I would buy BHP shares. | v11slr
25/4/2024 08:25 | That’s going to need nearer 3500p in my opinion. | philanderer |
