18/12/2023 17:09 | chopp1 - I guess that's a bit like OPEC - they need to act in concert for any global effect? | pvpower
18/12/2023 16:35 | There is far too much emphasis on production figures amongst analysts where mining companies are concerned. What is the point of maintaining production when the demand isn’t there? Scaling back can only push up commodity prices and improve revenues even at lower production levels and at a lower cost base too. I personally think AAL have done the sensible thing; it wouldn’t surprise me if others don’t follow suit. | chopp1
18/12/2023 14:30 | Dismissal of class action case is a bit of a bummer for shorters? | penandnen
15/12/2023 09:38 | Yes, I was a bit taken aback by the price fall after the performance up-date. Much of the bad news I thought was washed in public earlier in the year. e.g. Few miners are doing anything as environmentally correct as the Woodsmith project yet this seems lack support from the ethical crowd. I also had been accumulating during the Autumn looking for the price trough base. (Maybe the shorters are a bit short-sighted?) BTW my SIPP is 10.2% up this year to date so I can't be that bad at picking stock! | penandnen
14/12/2023 21:51 | I took 400 shares off the table today with an average of £22 that I sold for around £17.90 area so I've took a hit of over £1600 on those but I'm still holding 1000 shares going forward. I've set 2 buy limit orders going forward @ 1633 for 225 shares & 1472 for 250 shares. AAL really has been problematic during 2023 as I've been buying from 3200 area and chasing it down, luckily I've been doing well on my other trading stocks and holding my account steady. | turvart
14/12/2023 08:50 | Anglo American forced to cut De Beers’ Expenses by $100 Million ==================== Anglo American will be forced to slash De Beers’ overhead costs in response to the diamond-market downturn, the parent company has warned. The current downturn maybe temporary, but there are few signs that the market is “beginning to turn.” De Beers incurred a loss in the second half of 2023 following sales of just $80 million. Unfortunately De Beers kept production steady in the second half of this year — leading to an inventory buildup. | ukneonboy
14/12/2023 07:40 | Ignore the noise. Back to 3000p within 6 months. | gah123
14/12/2023 02:10 | Rally hard here tomorrow along with US | kirk 6
13/12/2023 14:37 | IMO this may drip slowly lower without any positive news as the market has a "justification" to squeeze it until 2025/26 - if, as AAL said, things turn around. | fuji99
