I don't think the business will be sold as better off as is

A good bit on Bloomberg about this today and the complexity of getting a deal done.
The discount that miners have by listing in London was also spoken about!!

One thing for certain though that came across is it's a way too low an opening offer especially as copper breaks 10000 on LME for the first time.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Mike Henry seems to be a forceful character determined to cement BHP's position as the world No.1 copper producer and is unlikely to give up at the first hurdle.

28-30 seems to be the growing consensus of the range at which the AAL board would even consider an offer.

Perhaps now would be a good time to top up.

eb&b let's see if you're right....

Neilyb675 is my hero! I've always thought his posts are the most intelligent and insightful and I base most of my transactions on his words of wisdom.

Going back over the last couple of month's worth of messages the only one's that have not been marked down (you can't mark your own messages) are three by Neilyb675.

Draw your own conclusion!

OMG or more accurately FFS - I've just noticed we have a persistent 'downmarker' on every message posted. How pathetic!!!

Apiarist - My rule of thumb, as I was told donkey's years ago and is pretty accurate, is - Add 40% to the price when it started creeping up just before the initial bid caame in. i.e. in this instance the sharp small rise on Wednesday afternoon, up from £21.50. Add 40% which gives bang on 30 quid.

We shall see!

tuftymatt, totally agree. There’s no way BHP is taking out AAL for £25

Very nice to see this close at a fair way above the 2508 offer price.

Bodes well that if this does go to BHP then they will have to seriously up their offer.

Good luck all 👍🏻

I wouldn’t be surprised if RIO was interested as well. It’s the copper that’s a huge part of this.

Could well be right, EBandB. It would have been an especially clever thing to have done that yesterday, of course.

If one holds BHP and AAL shares or just BHP shares alone, my hunch would be to sell all BHP holding and buy AAL with the cash.

i can see a battle between BHP and glencore bid for this tbh...not so for Rio. Still way too cheap for takeover it will keep creeping up to make bidders serious. BHP and Glencore have mountain of cash!
