15/9/2016 17:46 | Nicked from III TLW Board I too am not convinced frack baby frack will carry on as is. Oaklahoma has gone from less than 2 earthquakes a year to more than hundreds. Although, it's being blamed on conventional drilling not fracking. Any interruption or extra regulation is still bopd off the US. According to a study from the university of Michigan the Bakken field is responsible for 2% of the world's ethane emissions. A powerful greenhouse gas that reacts with sunlight at ground level to create toxic ozone. Frackers may well be able to bring another 1.5m barrels a day on line and continue to reduce their costs under current legislation but increased regulation could be round the corner reducing recoverable resources from the fields and/or increasing costs for environmental reasons. | leoneobull
15/9/2016 14:02 | When talking of death of the oil co,s due to batterry tech i believe that the growth in 3rd world populations of 75m a year will result in oil consumption being little changed in 10yrs as the west trys to go electric and others stay with internal combustion. All those so called gas guzzlers that the west don't want will be shipped to africa where they will be drinking gas ,belching fumes and leaking oil for the next 30yrs.. After all thats where all the fax machines, amstrad computers and nokia cell phones go. Cars will be no different.... You,ve only got to go to the many capital and regional cities of such places to see it already in full swing. Gridlock with such vehicles... The death of oil is decades and decades away. Just like tobbacco. We may be smoking less but everywhere else is still puffing away.... imho | pineapple1
15/9/2016 10:27 | Oil co's will die a death but not yet. Lack of investment will drive the next oil boom but this time fracked oil will control the rise. I can see battery tech making a huge dent but not for a good 10 to 20 yrs. | celeritas
15/9/2016 10:08 | Who are " they" gregpeck? I don't think the shorters have that sort of clout to move a share that much | mercer95
15/9/2016 09:27 | Fine by me. I'll take a load more for the LT. | ifthecapfits
15/9/2016 09:23 | They will push this under 200p to trigger stops IMO. | gregpeck7

14/9/2016 16:24 | Can't blame you, hazl. I'm sticking with it on the basis that I don't intend to touch the shares for a few years (if the company lasts!). Best of luck to you. | kevjones2
14/9/2016 16:16 | for various reasons am out for now, apologies for blowing hot and cold. | hazl
14/9/2016 12:01 | For what it's worth I'm back in, that will get the shorters trembling in their Gucci loafers! | mercer95
13/9/2016 16:39 | NB I thing the shorts must be a leveraged play on the poo If poo goes down then TLW goes down in greaer % because of its own debt position | phillis
13/9/2016 15:59 | FYI It was reported today that OPEC has stated it expects the global supply glut will extend to 2017.D The cartel sees increased production from non OPEC rivals such as the U.S., where rig counts have been on the rise for the past 2 months. | azalea
13/9/2016 15:40 | Yep, I'm the same but to date, there's nothing actually to suggest there is something shorts know we don't. A TEN failure would have been a good indicator that something leaked. I suspect it is just a hedge on a over leveraged oil company with large debt. They're probably long somewhere else, however, it must be costing a fair penny to borrow that many share, although the fact there are no dividends probably means it is cheaper to borrow than other large oilers. So basically, poo and a return to dividends could rocket the share price as the shorters run for the hills. On the other hand a poor poo into 2017 could be v bad for tullow. | mcsean2164
13/9/2016 13:36 | You have to wonder if someone knows something that us pi's don't! I know from a current leverage perspective things don't look mighty rosy currently but looking forward 12/18 months it should be imo. Maybe there's a thought that there'll be another push down on the oil price before they all buy back! Who knows :) | dealer1972
13/9/2016 11:26 | It`s 132.2m shares sold short. Quite remarkable, which is why I keep remarking on it! 14.5% is just the ii over .5%- As we`ve seen there are a few funds dipping back and forth ocver the .5%... Going to be interesting if there is ever a run on PoO again! We could do with a bit of a short squeeze....but I`ve been saying it for months now and the short % just gets bigger and bigger....I`m long, in case you hadn`t realised! | nicebut
13/9/2016 10:19 | Thanks for the update nicebut, I've never gone short on shares but I can see the attraction, making money at both ends of the market. | mercer95 |
