25/6/2017 16:05 | RBS Nearing $4.5 Billion Settlement Over Mortgage-Backed Securities Sales RBS is also in formal settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice over another residential mortgage-backed securities penalty. The settlement has been drawn out because of changes in DOJ senior officials under the Trump Administration. ------ The Royal Bank of Scotland Group plc RBS is about to reach a settlement with the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) regarding the sale of mortgage-backed securities to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac during the 2008 financial crisis, per a SkyNews report. The deal is expected to cost $4.5 billion (£3.5 billion) to the bank. However, it would still be in talks of settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice and the cost is expected to be higher than that with FHFA. | smurfy2001 | |
