29/4/2010 17:18 | xavico............I think The Owl is spot on and I would like to think that the delay is not ominous. The company is quite closely held and unless a major shareholder wants to offload there is a relatively small free float which could magnify the price action (either way)in the event of news or the re-activation of the buy-back program.I have accumulated here so my views are somewhat biased. | jonnym
29/4/2010 16:08 | The Owl, thanks for your take. I have to say I have always liked RAB and hoped it would one day compete on even terms with MAN who seem to have taken a different strategy from the early days. It seems Northern Rock and others caused (FSA included) a blow to the company. I like it because it does pay dividends and nice ones at that. | xavico
29/4/2010 14:34 | Xavico - maybe, but not normally their style, nor in their interests to do so, nor do they need to do so. The risk is 17p downside. Last trading update told it as it is...difficult market to call, rebuilding has started,...reduced divi etc. i.e. mix of the good (funds up, cash), the bad (need to auction, difficult market to foresee going forwards, reduced capital), the challenges etc. Bigger funds elsewhere e.g. Gartmore seems to have done well, Blackstone not I think, not sure where Man are these days. Sunday Times said '...meanwhile the hedgies are coining it...'..you takes your choices, and hold your view with these - maybe right, maybe not. What's different with RAB for me is Natural Resources bias, and the impacts on these as economies slowly emerge from recession. Its AIM - there are always bigger risks than elsewhere plus communication to shareholders is less than on main markets. We just have to wait see, reduce, or build/drip-feed positions accordingly. Its quiet because we don't have a picture much beyond Q3 last year (when results were compiled for end of year), nor a forward forecast for 2010-2011. Hopefully AGM will provide some clarity during this quiet period for the shares... just my ramblings... Owl ps anyone think they'll make a mint from Polo?!! | the_owl
29/4/2010 13:25 | JM Do you think RAB are trying to hide bad news?? | xavico
29/4/2010 11:26 | Looks like the trading update is being kept for the AGM next Tuesday? | jonnym
28/4/2010 14:17 | Always a risk with AIM shares :-) ... lol Think probably not with RAB tho. Dramatic fund improvements + performance fees + management fees should improve their asset base. Noticed RAB seem to be on a bit of a buying spree if one reads RNS's last few days - a good sign IMO. Morse is interesting with links to ATM suppliers, innovative phone payment systems etc. Added a few today - more next month if AGM proves reasonably positive in painting a clear rebuild route back to strength. | the_owl
28/4/2010 10:39 | gurp - Digital Look can be useful for the RAB funds. fig1 - what do you mean? RAB is behaving itself isn't it? Calm & silent shares are good shares (IMO). Sp is below NAV, RAB has cash. and there's a divi. All one needs to know for medium-long term low key AIM shares. | the_owl
28/4/2010 08:56 | what on earth is going on here? | fig1
27/4/2010 22:56 | does ne1 have a link to RAB fund holdings, just can't find one? tia | gurp |
