That rumour if that is what it is,(about the size of the plates)is in todays broadsheets financial pages. They have just said they will increase the diam. of their pizzas by 1.5". Could this mean the share price will also become bigger.

I hav heard rumors that pizza express have bought new corckery which is smaller than the original set, their plates are now of a smaller diameter so that less of the rim shows as the pizza size decreases...sneaky b*stards

they have just announced that they will be increasing the size of their pizzas by 15% from next week - to 10.5 inches, another 1.5 inches at no extra cost - this should add 15% at least to the share price very soon imho - GREAT NEWS AND THE BEGINNING OF A FIGHT=BACK!

so let's get this straight, a dot.com gossip site is quoting a NEWSpaper which is reporting market speculation about trading about a quarter which has only just begun but detailed to 1.4% of sales...............lol

"..Dealers believe investors face the prospect of further bad news at the next quarterly trading update in January. The latest talk suggests that the decline in like-for-like sales for its core pizza brand in the UK has risen from the 4.4% revealed last month to closer to 6%.." (nothing-ventured.com quoting The Times)

L2 shows all 10 MMs moving the price downwards in turns today.

Earlier this week I posted on MF that the management were not seeming to act as owners. In other words their lack of action and response to the bid was suspicious to me. It seemed that they were allowing the bid talks of 350p to gain an air of respectability.

It appears I am not alone in my view.

Very informative

does anyone think that there is any correlation between the negative announcements pronounced by pizza express and the low level of the bid ?

After testing the water with a low offer, I think the answer from todays close is that there is plenty of fight from shareholders who've bought at (sometimes) significantly higher prices.

The trouble with this stratagy (although there's no getting away from it) is that it could smoke out any other potential bidders leading to an auction. Furthermore, it could, make any MBO more palatable in the face of an 'external' threat.

I think this one's got a long way to go, given the latest (Oct '02) Analyst magazine DCF valuation of 700p on zero sales growth.

Cheers

A chancers offer!
