PIZ, 50p`s worth of gear for £7.50 and thats a take away price, well that should reflect in the share price, but diners aren`t fooled, you can buy two portions of fish and chips, or a two course Chinese take away round here for that price, and the year old "restaurant" is empty most nights , while the other two mentioned takeaways adjacent and across the road have queues
No thanks for the pizza or the company

Quite frankly if you haven't experienced Zizzi's yet, and realised how significantly they eat up PIZ's business in London, you shouldn't be investing in Pizza Express!

The chairman claimed on Bloomberg that the pizzas are the same size as they used to be. Personally I dont know but I would like to hear from those with a 'pizza' of experience (sorry!) to confirm this rumour. Also who's this Zizzi's crowd? (I dont live in London).

Falling like a stone. Many sells showing as buys (including two of mine early on). £3 here we come.

its been commented that the pizza express pizza's have been shrinking in size !

seems this is contagious and is now effecting the share price

all pizza express shareholders now need to be innoculated against this new shrinking virus !

andymu - most deals take place within the spread, so the actual spread is much smaller - why not try a proper broker with a limit order instead of taking the screen price?

Can anyone tell me why the spread on PE is still as high as 15 p, even though the price has more than halved?

Yes I know it's the (greedy) market makers, but I still don't understand the mechanics of how such a wide spread - 3 to 4% - can be maintained in a widely held & traded stock.

Many thanks for any help!

Hi folks

I too am watching this one. I've a few questions for those in the know :

Can you give me an idea of the turnover and profit from 'takeaway' sales ( if any )and what affect competition like DOM is likely to have in this area ?

With tourist trade, in the major London outlets, still reduced and competition from the likes of ASK central, is there not a possibility that potential customers are fewer and harder to attract ?

these just don't seem to budge at the moment, ftse down 133, piz n/c......maybe all the short-sighted pizza haters are out at last, if so the dough will soon start to rise imho - this is one of the most outstanding bargains in the market, p/e 10 for the rolls royce of high street catering!

Its a buy. I invest in very few companies but bought these at 410p. I dont think there will be any real movement til just before results (in a few weeks?). Glad to see somebody else on board!

ursus, it is not a franchise operation, except in a tiny number of overseas experiments, you are right i was lucky to get out before the 'profits warning' but i am more committed than before at these levels, )i have paid between 400 and 440 and won't use a stop-loss... i can't see a better value stock, you may be right about is being a mature business but i see this as a strength, there is great depth to it and even if they do nothing more than open a total of 500 units in the uk, it will be a cash cow on a p/e of 5 - but i can't see it ever being allowed to get there, the likes of Rank would pick it up first! and if they can find a new country to expand rapidly in, franc eand spain are the favourites.............

the trouble is, freddy, you said it was quality when it was in the 600s, just before the last profit warning. true, you were light enough on yr feet to bale out before that, and you have said that you are rebuying over the last few weeks. were you right to buy again in the mid 400s? isnt there a risk of another profit warning?

this is a co in which i bought shares many yrs ago at abt 130p, and sold out (too early of course) for sizeable profit some years ago. i feel it is a mature business now with real competitors (which it lacked st the outset). franchise ops like this do have a way of going off the boil quickly.

that said - good luck! your legendary stockpicking skills will no doubt triumph again.

this is quality at a silly price - single figure p/e for a cash producing easy to understand growth stock - imho it doesn't matter that lfl sales are down a bit, the growth will continue to come from new openings paid for out of cash flow, end of story..........£8 in two years or I'll eat every item on the menu in one sitting!

Pizza Express - there is a substantial uncovered bear position in this stock imho - and a so called hedge fund will be served up as a special topping when they attempt to cover this mistake!
