14/1/2013 21:06 | Encouraging. Of course, everything gets better once the disastrous interest swap comes to an end provided interest rates stay low! | topvest
14/1/2013 16:07 | A decent tick up today :)) Loved my stay at the Carlisle hotel. | battlebus2
26/10/2012 13:27 | A couple of buys today at 40p. Still a long way to go imv. | battlebus2
23/10/2012 23:18 | Thanks Playful.Yes not like others we could mention! Will certainly take them up on the shareholders discount rather than my usual odd night at the Premier inn :))The odd shareholder discount at the deli wouldn't hurt if you know what i mean! Does anyone know how you prove your a shareholder if like my holding it's in nominee? What are we looking at here price wise if the current trading continues i'm hoping for 60p medium term so a 50% upside from today which would value them around 8 million. Debt is an issue but it should keep falling. | battlebus2
23/10/2012 23:03 | Nice to see you here battlebus! They are very grateful of shareholders support and I don't see any reasons why you will ever need doubt your investment here. | playful
23/10/2012 20:13 | Peel Hotels report 5% sales growth Janet Harmer Tuesday 23 October 2012 16:48 Regional group Peel Hotels has reported an increase in turnover of nearly 5% in its interim results. Sales over the 28 weeks to 19 August 2012 was £8.21m, an increase of 4.7% in the same period last year, while profit before tax was £45,049 compared with a profit of £32,998 during 2011. Earnings before interest, tax and depreciation increased 1.1% to £1.02m. Revenue per available room (revpar) increased 2.6% with occupancy down 0.3% and average room rate up 2.8%. The company, whose debt stands at £12.42m, has been careful to conserve cash, but not at the detriment of maintaining and improving its hotels with £172,331 being spent during the period across its nine-strong portfolio of four-star hotels, mainly upgrading the garden at the Norfolk Royale hotel in Bournemouth and on the continuation of improving the bedrooms at the Midland hotel in Bradford. Robert Peel, chairman of Peel Hotels, said: "We have made progress in the period in terms of sustainable sales growth, revpar growth and the continuing decrease of net debt. We hope to build on this very satisfactory sales growth by improving our return on sales." | battlebus2
23/10/2012 17:45 | Hi guys as Des says these were on my watch list for ages after playful mentioned them somewhere so after the positives in this mornings results i bought a first 5k. Didn't realise yourselves and topvest are also invested here so another positive to come home to :)) O/T Des no sign of our Work newsletter yet. | battlebus2
23/10/2012 11:37 | Yes, a vaguely encouraging update for once and they are only 18m away from the end of the disastrous interest rate hedging policy, which will help them a lot from April 2014 onwards. I've used the 50% discount once - it's quite generous. | topvest
23/10/2012 09:09 | Welcome on board Des! I also like the fact they offer a 50% discount to all company shareholders so we can monitor our investment. I haven't taken them up on it yet but probably will do sometime soon. | playful
23/10/2012 08:29 | Morning playful. You made me aware of this share last year some time. Didn't bite then but finally decided to take the plunge in recent days and added again this morning. Looks a good bet to me. Des | deswalker
23/10/2012 08:20 | Reasonable report and was enough to persuade me to buy again this morning. | playful
08/8/2012 16:04 | Buzz is July was another very poor month for most provincial hotels. | lord c.
05/7/2012 08:41 | The terrible weather continues. June was another bad trading month for many provincial hotels who should be banking cash to get them through the winter. If this record breaking rain continues throughout the rest of the summer we could see some serious consequences come late autumn. | lord c.
07/6/2012 08:25 | I am led to believe that May 2012 was a torrid month for many provincial hotels turnover drop of more than 15% common. If this dreadful weather keeps up, June will be going the same way. | lord c.
13/4/2012 17:41 | Topvest there is also the minor matter of 2012 first quarter results, current trading and short term forecasts. I'm guessing that times are currently (and going to remain) hard. | lord c.
12/4/2012 21:06 | The directors have been lending money to Peel for 2/3 years now to tidy them over, albeit this loan looks more formal. It was £1.5m at the end of last year in the accounts. Basically, the directors have topped-up the reducing overdraft facility. It's unclear from the RNS whether these are new loan notes, replacement loan notes etc. Could be good news if £1.5m had been repaid. Difficult to tell but probably additional loan notes to replace the diminishing bank debt. Any thoughts? Timing indicates that these have been formally issued now, to get the accounts signed off by the auditors so not necessarily a disaster. The directors have been very supportive of the company to date, and without their loans then the company would have probably gone bust. Still some hope that they can do ok, particularly as the interest cost will reduce once the expensive swap ends. One thing to note though is the higher interest rate terms on these loan notes. Anyway lets see what the final results show. | topvest
11/4/2012 09:15 | yes not good news | hybrasil
11/4/2012 08:27 | Oh dear oh dear oh dear................ | lord c.
12/10/2011 20:43 | Yes, they are certainly trying their best for us. They need to get through the next 6m and hope for some Olympics impact and better trading next year. The directors are a good bunch here and have put their hands in their pockets before, so hopefully they will play the long game. Their hotels seem a good quality and so should be able to run cash flow positive. The interest rate hedge is getting closer to the end as well, so there is some hope here that they can turn it around. | topvest |
