Great assessment of situation...got a call today from broker to say credit suisse had upgraded rrs....a bit late.....Isnt the play now on copper more....kaz rio anto blt etc ..do u know which hedge fund got caught...

Just going to have to be patient here.FY results Monday so some reticence to pile in now.There was such a massive hedge fund bet on gold falling in price from a Clinton victory and a 75% chance of a Fed rate hike in December, that they all got caught out massively on election night.What you saw with RRS results day when gold miners sold off was start of that hedge fund bet,selling anything gold related.The reason we haven't seen a big rise in precious metals after the Trump win was because the dollar has strengthened big-time instead of the big fall that was anticipated! We now have to wait for the dollar to slowly lose some strength,then platinum and gold prices will slowly rise again.

Fed raising rates in December now? I have my doubts! OPEC going to agree oil production cuts,when Trump has vowed to increase fracking,make the US independent in energy and vowing to exploit 'clean' coal? I have my doubts! Italy and PM Renzi going to win his Constitutional referendum December 4th? I have my doubts! Market in shock not really knowing how to react. Another plus is that after what Elon Musk said about Trump,electric car technology is not going to get much US government support!

With 60% invested in gold/platinum miners this impasse can last as long as they like! Lol good call csmwssk12hu. I think markets may be suspended sometime because of the uncertainty.

Funny you should mention the number of bets placed and for whom.That is exactly the information i've been looking for on the betting sites.Sadly no joy.The betting industry has to rely heavily on the pollsters,and the polls have been unreliable in elections/referendums lately.

Red remember the day of brexit vote odds hit 7/1 for leave, what would be more interesting is number of bets placed, a few big bets can change odds, lots of little bets may show true picture

A Trump win would certainly help my portfolio,and lessen the chance of a Fed rate rise in December.However with Clinton odds 2/7 and Trump 13/5 i'm not hanging my hat on Tuesday.The Fed funds rate has a 60% probability of a Fed rate hike 13-14/12.I think a stronger dollar will short-term knock platinum,but its the Chinese data showing growth which long-term is very encouraging for commodities.Platinum prices cratered earlier this year because of a China slowdown picture.I believe China is growing a bit quicker now and hopefully demand will pick up.Copper prices are picking up,that's a good trend for pt in its industrial use.

Everyone waiting for the US election.Just had US jobs report which is usually a market-moving event,but zilch action.Maybe US open in half an hour will spark some action

Surprised at the selling volume on these when they are worth at least £2.50 IMHO. I suppose any profit is better than none but reckon these will be blue again and then we'll see the share price test the £2.50 marker

csmwssk12hu i recognise your call-sign from IAG.Are you in this too? We had an interesting day.Inmarsat wi-fi on short-haul and a boost from sterling's unexpected bounce.I'm beginning to get twitchy though.A Trump win is going to send a lot of stocks south in transports.
