Foxy22 You can't do anything about profit takers.1/2 mill trades so not excessive.Dollar index still down, vix still high, and Chinese manufacturing Pmi was good.Highly volatile situations play on the nerves but you have to trust your instincts.Just keep half an eye on pt and the gold price.

Foxy22,From previous posts going back to March i have always maintained that the Fed would not raise rates in the US this year.I made the decision to concentrate on precious metals as a currency play regarding the dollar.Over 50% of my investments are in precious metals.I don't know about other commodity plays or oil.I'm not going to advise you what to do,all i will say is that until 4/12 the date of the Italian constitution referendum i'm not budging.5/12 i will review the likelihood of a Fed rate rise on 13-14/12.

Red Baron.....my mining plays in us got hammered last night....do you think we should be a bit cautious in light of the possibility of a trumpocracy...should we be a bit cautious and take some off the table temporarily...we don't want to lose our profits...what do u think

£2.50 will be the next marker for where these are going imho. Very positive this week with all the strike uncertainty out of the way. Holding.

As Mr Magara has said: "I can't control the Platinum Price, I can't control the Exchange Rate". Pt Price up in last week whilst the ZAR went the other way and strengthened against the USD

That's commodities for you.Can win big or lose big. After the commodity super-cycle we are a lot more wary of China now! I don't like 'big is beautiful' with goldminers.I bought polymetal a few weeks ago and now just getting back to even with it.The smaller have a lot more volatility which i prefer. Can't complain about RAND tho,it is doing the business for you!

Foxy22 i see you take your investing very seriously. No stone unturned, even flying around the world for SA mining Indabas.Rather you than me sitting and listening to CEOs in conferences, especially when there's such a beautiful country to travel around. You need to get out more foxy!

The reason it is not going to happen (a merger) is because of international competition concerns, they've been there, done that and got the t-shirt a number of years ago and Bruseels, Washington and Shanghai all blocked it. This isn't OPEC and AAL want three sectors diamonds, copper and platinum, not two!

harry_david,PIC are agitating big time and is on Cutifani's case. He's disposing of assets, but not the one the PIC want ie platinum. He's doing his best not to hive it off.

Lonmin now that the union is off its back is a definite target. Implats also has ambitions and others that are cashed up could jump in as well. Current price is very cheap on a comparative revenue basis.

foxy22 It's good to know you are v familiar with this company and its history. You are investing with your eyes wide open! Sensible girl, you have positions here and in AAL.If the PIC is so desperate to get AAL(pic with about 10%) and lonmin(pic 30%) to merge all platinum together they know they will have a monopoly supply of pgms worldwide.I love it when there is limited supply from a limited source. No competition and long-term v profitable.

Red Baron aal is my biggest holding...but see potential in lmi.Been holding commodity shares through the worst of times .....looking now like you to better days....i increased my lmi position when the banker omitted to take up my rightsAnd i had to buy on open market...he asked me why i would want to purchase rights for a bankrupt company....silly frog

foxy22 i see you get about! You're on the AAL message board as well.I think you've joined the commodities space at just the right time with the dollar weakening.I think today will be interesting, with more of a focus on gold miners.
