Totally agree. Great results, with everything from cash generation to customer growth moving forward strongly

Excellent results. Seems in anything a little undue caution in the outlook.

Couldn't have asked for much more with these results at this time.

Moment of truth tomorrow for management, one year in - can they show continued improvement in their key operating metrics, especially in the online betting market. They should also be a winner on currency going forward.

LOL (hates shorters)

Yup, definitely has some momentum behind it. Also, interesting to see if those shorts start coming down - it had 8.5% net shorts at 24 June, so they'll be taking some pain (shame).

Hmm.

Will this be galloping on, on Thursday or the old sell on news I wonder?

WHill bullet their CEO = bad results and loss of market share. Their RNS states that it could take up to 1 year to find replacement. Implies good news for LAD

Fugnows.

They would have made a killing on the brexit betting as well.

Once merger goes through they should fly.

imho dyor etc

don't get this stock. It seems to be on a very fast recovery track, especially in the online space, following the appointment of a new CEO. It has overseas earnings, which benefit from Sterling's fall. It is likely to get approval for a merger which will yield substantial cost savings, with relatively little pain in terms of disposals to satisfy the CMA. Yet, it is still one of the most shorted shares in the stock exchange, with 9% shorts. Why?

It is all about the Coral deal and leveraging PTEC for online.

They have got there and Hills have really messed this one up from having a great leadership position.

This will have been ego related on Hills side.

Moral of the story is to buy PTEC and watch them work their magic.

They will profit from the LADS recovery as well (as 10% owners)

Well 400 shops at an average of £100,000 (or more) will be a nice £40 Million windfall for the merged company imo.

Especially given that we would have had over saturation and needed to dump them anyway.

A win win I think.

Still seen as good news that it has effectively gone through - LADS needed this deal.

It is Hills who now need to make a move.

What is interesting is the Betfred link up with GVC. Now that is a deal to shake up the sector.

LADS with PTEC.

Hills alone - they might want to follow Betfred now.

Management must be very pleased with this news but probably can't shout 'result' and have to make right noises.

CMA said to be only asking for 400 shops to be sold in tie-up with Coral. Analysts had been expecting 500-800

Strong Q1 trading statement. Like the emphasis on LAD only being at the start of their recovery programme
