DR_SMITH, Semper Vigilans!I think you are not fully understanding the significance of 5G and the internet of things.....I don't think anyone does at the moment! Connected fridges and toasters and a faster internet connection are just the tip of the iceberg for this technology! 5G infrastructure will be like building motorways in the 14th century! No one would have been able to imagine what was to come! 5G is the infrastructure that the next generation of technology will be connected to, everything you can think of will be connected to it and everything you cannot yet think of will connect to it. This really is the stuff of the Matrix! Take the blue pill and see how deep the rabbit hole goes!

I am an ex IT guy and can't help siding with Luddites / yump.
There was a tangible benefit to replacing looms with automated machinery, but Moores law may double capacity etc but now has diminishing real world benefits.
If my fridge doesn't order the shopping I won't be losing any sleep. ;-)

Shouldn't the £ target for H2 should be min 5-10% higher than stated to account for the beneficial exchange rate ?

In the UK its a lottery in terms of even being able to get 'any' signal isn't it?
My wife can't get 2G let alone 3G in our home, yet in a NHS hospital ward I get super fast broadband wi-fi free
Anyhow at the last 2 AGM's our CEO has said 5G is coming sooner than people think- he should know because our technology is the foundation on which it is based- compound semiconductors HAVE to be used. If the South Koreans say they will have it up, running, usable for Feb 2018 ...then it will happen there. The scope for earnings going ahead in 5G with the IOT for IQE is massive , and whilst many of us still go in and out of signal ( if there is one at all) or can't stream Netflix the UK govt seems intent on pushing 5G - it's a worldwide thing , but this is just SO good for us

Sweenoid et al,It is imperative that we beat £122m analysts estimates for the full year because if we meet £122m that means we would have only achieved £59m revenue in the second half......this is not good enough imo as the previous H2 revenues achieved £61m and £60m respectively........so we would be looking at declining second half revenues! This will give the mm all the ammunition they need to drop the sp! We need to smash £122m out of the ball park as the yanks would say! We need £63m at least in the second half! That would give us £126m for the year and both H1 and H2 would be beaten!

Edison's new note is much more extensive than Connacord's in terms of pages and information on the business , but I get more of a 'feeling' from Connacord's basically 1 pager
Reason - its clear that Connacord's note was issued after a meeting with the IQE management and a full presentation , I dont think Edison's note was after a visit-they dont mention one - that is critical.
Connacord specifically mention the upbeat and optimistic attitude of CEO CFO and others presenting and that frankly means an awful lot more to me than a lot of repeated waffle (however interesting)

Both companies have IDENTICAL estimates for FY 2016 - £122 million in revenue and a fully diluted EPS of 2.73p , Connacord thinks there will be £25million debt Edison £30million
PBT is identical for both at £19.0

if they beat - they beat both the analysts that give them best cover - so we will get 2 very positive notes

Connacord's new price target is 51p Edisons is a woolly 40-45p , but BOTH say there is room for a beat and both still say IQE is undervalued re peers.

Its now a stonking buy to 40p , although I prefer to see the share price settle here for a while and consolidate till the trading statement

from Oct 2014 (approx) 16p a share ... 1% = 65m shares ... £65k per 1p ... so they must be around £1.25m down on the position (if my rough maths is correct)
.... so they need to buy back 65 million shares to close the position .... so is that what is going on ?
