Infrastrata Adopts A Step-By-Step Strategy To Advance Its Gas Storage And Gas Prone Exploration Licences

When at first you do not succeed, try something else. That seems to be the view of Aim Listed Infrastrata which now has adopted what it calls a step-by-step approach as opposed to what you and I might call a raise-large-sums-of-money-up-front-before-proceeding strategy to advance its projects, which now include gas prone exploration permits in Northern Ireland as well as its core gas storage schemes.
This was not always the plan. Infrastrata started life as Portland Gas when it demerged from small exploration and production (E & P) company Egdon Resources in January 2008. It was to focus on the development of gas storage projects in the UK and internationally. At that point it had two projects in its portfolio. As its name suggests the most advanced was on the Isle of Portland in Dorset in southern England. This had been under development for three years.

lots of posts on iii board for infa, eg (today):

The Merlion

Can we assume that most of the CS holding has gone, after the 11m and there is no overhang?

Very interesting buys so far today all going through at ask or very nearly.

Very welcome rise indeed.

12.784m shares traded today, including 11m at 12p reported after the close. looks like the largest holder is out and possibly two buyers of 5m and 6m are in. Hopefully, the recent selling pressure is now off!

UK gas prices hit fresh two-year high
UK natural gas prices have risen again to a fresh two-year high, as freezing temperatures took hold of Britain.

taking a 1 to 2 year view i think the economic fundementals of gas storage in the uk will return and the value placed on advanced projects will increase dramatically.in the meantime the company needs to stay in the game without dilution at these levels...i hope the gas exploration does not prove to be a distraction!
in the short term the pressures on gas supply and storage as the big freeze continues should refocus attention on the potentially unreliable lpg supplies that have diverted investment away from improving the totally insufficient uk gas storage sector and could finally push hmg or eu to demand more storage is put in place by the supply companies...which can only help in sorting full funding and a realistic valuation for the projects and hence the group.
in the meantime credit suisse seem to be selling up...but since they jumped in with both feet near the top they may well be abandoning ship at the bottom.

Amazing decline in the share price since the arrival of Ecorp. share price was 43p which shot up to 52p on Ecorps intervention. The decline has been unremitting since then ie the start of July. Dont know how yesterday went but the share price dropped back to 13.5p from 15p. Still watching and waiting!!!!!! Do you have any positives for us Kooba??

Are you saying that Credit Suisse still own 20% of INFA?? I was going to ask that on this thread. Another question relating to Credit Suisse - they did have their man on the Board(I think the name was Jonathan Davie or similar) - question is - is this guy still there? Was not his role to bring his vast expertise to bear with his many contacts and thus be an integral part of the finance raising process?? If so this is yet another fiasco. However I note on Friday we did have a 10% rise in one day - could this be a new start??

Credit Suisse Securities reducing their holding for many months, and they still have 20%!

yep share price is looking grim at a time when there should be an real call for increased storage...also with the seasonal swing in prices the economics of storage assets looks far stronger.

.U.K. Natural Gas Rises as LNG Flows Decline, Freeze Continues
By Ben Farey - Dec 8, 2010 4:43 PM GMT
.U.K. natural-gas contracts advanced after deliveries from liquefied gas terminals dropped while freezing temperatures boosted heating demand.

Gas flows declined from the Isle of Grain near London, BG Group Plc's Dragon LNG terminal and the South Hook facility in Wales, National Grid Plc data show.

Gas for January delivery gained as much as 2 pence, or 3.4 percent, to 61.45 pence a therm. It was at 60.5 pence as of 4:30 p.m. in London. That's equal to $9.55 a million British thermal units. A therm is 100,000 Btus. The contract reached a 22-month high of 62 pence a therm on Dec. 6.

"For the remainder of December and into the start of the New Year, temperatures look set to remain very cold, well below average for much of the U.K., with often widespread frost and the risk of ice," the Met Office said on its website.

Gas for the first quarter of next year gained 0.65 pence, or 1.1 percent, to 59.75 pence a therm. Gas for immediate delivery gained 1.1 pence at 63.9 pence a therm.

London temperatures may drop to minus 9 degrees Celsius (16 Fahrenheit) by Dec. 20 from today's low of minus 4, according to CustomWeather Inc. data on Bloomberg. Colder weather increases demand for gas-fired heating and may allow storage inventories to be replenished.

Stockpiles at Rough, the country's largest gas-storage facility, fell to 27,470 gigawatt-hours as of 6 a.m. today, 27 percent less than at the same time last year, grid data show.

National Grid forecast demand will be 447 million cubic meters at 6 a.m. tomorrow, 93 million more than normal for the time of year. The U.K.'s highest recorded daily gas demand was 465 million cubic meters in January.

Well the share price has now hit 12.25p - surely now there is no way back for this garbage. I did hold out hope that the share price would steady but its a decline each and every day without respite. I think there are results due on or around the 14th Dec (ref Kooba) That will be for certain the defining moment for Hindle et al.

wonder if infa have looked at alternative use of salt caverns if they can't convince anyone of the merits of having a strategic gas reserve in a country very dependent on that energy source...how about compressed air to be released to spin turbines providing electricity!...or even the big one of carbon capture and storage..[have been put into ssx maybe worth a look.]

Kooba All very true and accurate but the UK historically never plans ahead - absolutely never. We are always reactive in this country never proactive.

Couldnt believe my eyes!!!!!! New Egdon Resources (EDR) share price 17.75p INFA share price 14.5p
from whence we came!!!!!!(its hard to believe that at the parting of our ways the share price of EDR was quoted at 50p and Portland(as we became) 428p) How times and incompetence can change a company.

uk gas storage levels are already well down on same time last year when there was a panic. if this extreme cold continues there will be some real scare stories again about security of supply which will mean govt/eu legislation should be one step closer...the economics start working better with these seasonal jumps too as the price of gas has risen 30% in the past month..

Gas market prices rocket 2nd dec

The vulnerability of Britain's gas supply came into sharp focus yesterday as gas prices soared due to the cold weather.

Trading prices for gas rose by 7% to 63.5p a therm yesterday. The weather right across Europe has put pressure on supplies to the UK.

The emergency reserves at the Rough gas storage facility under the North Sea have been used for the second time this winter and stocks now stand at 17% below what they were this time last year.

The UK's stocks of North Sea gas now only account for 40% of domestic use, leaving the country reliant on imports from Europe.

There are worries about the costs being passed onto the consumer, already stretched with 3 of the Big 6 energy suppliers announcing price rises recently.

In the short term, the Met Office is predicting a continuation of the cold snap but relief may come in the early part of next year.

Exactly rimmy2000 ... although if this eCORP bunch are worth theyr'e salt, then if you can average down to approx 35p ish then we could actually be quids in 1day. Lets face it, we read every year how we rely on others for GAS don't we.
I recknon though we got a few more pence to go down yet ...
