08/2/2017 21:44 | The amazing thing about this rise is that this bb has acquired no pumpers and dumpers, no ignorant , know nothing cretins and no day-traders ramping away I guess it's the inertia of the last few years We will be back in the big-time ......when the muppets arrive ;-) S | sweenoid
08/2/2017 18:51 | Rehash of news I'd found prior to CES but good to restate it for wider publicity. Hoping for more engagements of this kind of scale. | roninja

07/2/2017 13:33 | aj > "6 Gray/s on one 120 Watt ASIC is game changing." But according to SHY we're going to have RT in a handheld very soon? You couldn't make this nonsense up. 120mW maybe, so just three orders of magnitude power reduction to go. | rob_evans
07/2/2017 13:26 | Not only does IMG at the moment appear to be in the clear but this could be a massive positive for IMG if manufacturers get scared off using certain ARM GPU designs in case AMD take them to court (AMD is going after the manufacturers rather than ARM itself!). | jamesrowe
07/2/2017 12:48 | AMD patent complaint against Mediatek, LG. and others . Samsung settled. It appears to involve ARM/Mali designs. IMG seems in the clear. | bukko
07/2/2017 12:35 | from techno on iii if true it would be very good news for us S | sweenoid
07/2/2017 00:38 | Per my post 26718, from the OTOY rep (who are working with IMG, and probably shouldn't reveal such things) in a Q and A reddit: "How many generations of gpu iterations do you expect for your real time path tracer to deliver good results on gaming pc's ? Not counting PowerVR? If we cheat (e.g. noise filters), one 4x Titan X box can get us 1080p60. So maybe by Volta that can go to 2 GPUs on a single board. Not that we have none down the road of testing PowerVR RT ASIC, it feels crazy for us not to do all we can to factor than into our mid term roadmap. 6 Gray/s on one 120 Watt ASIC is game changing." I don't see why IMG are messing around with 120W ASICs without good reason , I.e. a partner in the big boy gpu space. AJ | alexander_james
06/2/2017 18:17 | AMD now capitalised at $12.4bn. IMG £749m. Might we be an attractive T/O proposition to them? | swiftnick
06/2/2017 18:12 | AMD won a number of major deals they got two of the big consoles, 100% of Macs and recently won over a major deal to have AMD GPU's in intel CPU's. Plus AMD have Vega coming out. AMD share price makes sense unlike IMG's price which doesn't seem to follow logic. | pottsey
06/2/2017 17:21 | Whilst talking about AMD, has anyone on here been tracking AMD's stock price over on NASDAQ? At the end of 2015 it stood at $2.87 At the end of 2016 it stood at $11.34 On Friday it stood at $12.24 As I write it has gone over $13.50, up by over 10% today Rather puts IMG's recent share price increase into perspective! Any ideas what's going on? | swiftnick
06/2/2017 16:51 | I assume that someone has heard something that has yet to filter out into the wider market.... | jamesrowe
06/2/2017 16:40 | It is nice to see the share price at these levels again although i would prefer it was based on something longer lasting like licenses and royalties rather than sentiment and momentum. If AMD does license img GPu ip of any kind then it will be be a massive win, but img history has taught me to wait for the actual news, | nearlythere
06/2/2017 16:11 | "I found it interesting because AMD has quickly become the exclusive supplier of GPUs for macs." Not just macs as AMD GPU's are going to be used in Intel CPU's going forward. | pottsey
06/2/2017 15:54 | the last time the share price got to this level many of the IMG staff sold their options , I guess after the traumas of early last year, the sacking of HY (sorry his retirement) and the new management team still having to prove itself. If you look back at the monthly shares in issue RNS's there was a big spike in the shares, I inadvertently thought that these were shares being given to staff but in effect they were being issued as staff were cashing in. I think management has shown it is totally committed to the 3 core divisions and those that are employed feel more 'secure' in prospects for the future. It is also quite obvious that the silly Apple rumours were ....just that - IMG management could not have made that more clear. now whether the shares are worth the share price trading today is another matter- but having been an investor for so many years its obvious that that particular factor has got little to do with valuations anyhow ;-) its sentiment and momentum that counts and given that our number 1 customer is doing great and will shortly be joined by another big player ..or two perhaps, after a very rocky road perhaps clearer waters lie ahead. I also think that Chinese companies simply DONT want to deal with the Japanese which is what ARM are these days ......... S | sweenoid

06/2/2017 12:39 | The problem I have is timelines. AMD next GPU (Vega) is meant to be announced early March, I heard 9pm GMT 10th of March. The problem is for RT to be linked to Vega AMD would have needed access to RT for over a year. Unless AMD had a hidden licence or hidden access to RT there just isn't enough time to implant RT ready for the upcoming Vega GPU. If RT is not for the Vega GPU the next major change where it might be slotted in is Navi which is years away, far to soon to be talked about. AMD are very unlikely to be talking about Navi on the 8th of March when Vega is expected on the 10th. I just don't see how AMD could announced an RT partnership ship with IMG on the 8th and bring out the new GPU on the 10th. Unless of course AMD have been implanting IMG RT without a licence. EDIT: In the unlikely event AMD have licenced RT perhaps its for some sort of VR product not the desktop GPU. | pottsey
06/2/2017 12:18 | If the AMD chap is 'only' discussing Vulcan or VR, then why omitt that from the itinary content. Hopefully, the mystery will turn out to be RT, although I doubt it; but like Pottsey I do hope that I am wrong! | orkney |
