If Apple have sold out already their 8%+ stake, then surely there would have been a statement by the company ...so I think Apples still maybe holding their stake in IMG and this could be start of clever negotiations that could lead to Apple owning it outright !

Wishful thinking from someone who did not sell out recently ! :-(

Another take on it is that...Apple has moved over to AMD for all Macs and now there is a rumour that they will also start using amd ryzen cpu, ditching intel in the process. A takeover by AMD feels like a better fit than it would have been for Apple, and suddenly AMD would be able to offer a mobile GPU that is a good fit for Apple.

RNS precise but vague as these two extracts show. From a commercial viewpoint it seems odd to me that APPLE haven't bought IMG, that would seem to be a no brainer over the last year or so if not longer. Then they get the lot and progressively shut out other uses of the IP over time of course.

PS - they are of the' view', why not say as it is 'we wont use or need it' So as I say precise but vague.

I am reminded why I stopped investing in tech companies; I have lost out on most of them and foolishly kept my holding here. I have occasionally posted that this company pays no yield and it cannot sustain its price on hope alone , but get shouted down by enthusiasts who know more than me about IMG. Sadly I did not take my own advice. Another one for the basket....

Its all very well talking about trade deals with US but with this sort of thing happening would we get taken to the cleaners by US companies.

This could also just be threat that comes as a result of a breakdown in licence price negotiations with Apple.

Apple are ruthless. Take out an architecture licence, modify the existing designs, set up an office near your supplier, poach their staff and then declare you will no longer be licencing IMG technology. The only option I can see is a sale of the business!

I might add that me having "sold out recently" was nothing to do with foresight. It was just the share price being at highs - and the need to raise funds to double my Cyan holding. I certainly wouldn't be a seller down here......it seems perfectly possible to me that IMG are right that Apple can't by-pass their tech - but I'll leave that argument to people who have more idea than me!

seems everyone "sold out recently"...

for those left its a long slog back..will be interesting to see just what Apple have done.

not a lot any shareholder could have done to mitigate this risk (apart from selling out recently)... just a nasty part of the stockmarket and business in general...anyone and everyone who trades stocks will have gone through this scenario previously...
