The open offer document is now on the web site:

Only one subscription share for every existing 18.3 shares held, not many, but not all shareholders will apply, so worth going for a few more than your entitlement. Note they will qualify for EIS tax relief, so that will mean an effective purchase price will be just 112p/share for UK tax payers.

I am out of the country now until Dec 2nd, so won't be able to apply for my entitlement for shares held as paper certs, but I'll go for an over subscription on the shares held in the ISA.

Interview with Ray Gibbs on Results and fund raising

I'm on hols in the Far East and down under (for the next 4 weeks) so haven't had much time to digest, but it all sounds very positive and good to hear that the placing was well received and that there is an open offer accompanying the placing giving existing shareholders the chance to invest under the same terms as the institutions.

Results
Group income up more than 10 fold to £1.48 million (2014: £0.13 million);
· Doubling of like-for-like income (Group income excluding HCS) of £0.30 million (2014: £0.13 million);
· Haydale Composite Solutions traded ahead of expectations at income and profit levels;
· Group adjusted* EBITDA loss of £2.38 million (2014: £1.96 million loss);
· Significant capital expenditure of £1.18 million (2014: £0.15 million);
· Cash at period end of £2.05 million (2014: £5.68 million);

These look more than healthy but with the placing of 2,885,625 New Shares, is it going to hold a 170p price.

In Sept Haydale said The Company announces that its audited results for the year ended 30 June 2015 are expected to be released in October.
Which must mean tomorrow.
(I am still waiting their PRO to tell me when, actual date.)
From 1pm today 26,000 shares sold.

A very bullist update from RG. It hadn't really occurred to me that the process patent could be used for nano-particulates other than graphene.

Lots of news flow to look forward to by the sound of it including the preliminary results (last year they came out in September) and the AGM (last year it was held in December).

Video interview with CEO Gibbs

Ray Gibbs, chief executive of Haydale Graphene (LON:HAYD), says the firm’s European patent opens up a massive market for the company.

Haydale has been awarded a key process patent underlying the company's proprietary functionalisation treatment.

Crucially, it not only covers graphene or carbon materials but also covers all nano particles.

This means the Haydale process can now be extended in Europe to a wide range of alternative materials, opening future opportunities and applications using the HDPlas® functionalisation process.

NEWS: Using their proprietary plasma process, the composites division of Haydale, has signed a letter of intent for a joint development and commercialisation agreement with Huntsman Advanced Materials (Switzerland) GmbH ("Huntsman"), a leading global manufacturer of epoxy, acrylic and polyurethane based polymer products.

If you check out Huntsman IT site this looks big IMO

That's a chunky bit of news this morning

See my notes from the investor day in June for the significance

The polymer and composite market is worth around $90Bn, the subset which Haydale are interested in are thermoset resins (value $19Bn) which comprise mainly of polyesters (66%) and Epoxy resin (23%). Haydale expect to set up strategic agreements with two large composite manufactures (one for epoxy and one for polyester) later this year, the agreements will be geography specific and will offer a period of exclusivity.

Epoxy and polyester polymers are currently used to make composites which contain strengthening materials such as glass fibre and carbon fibre. There are substantial improvements in tensile properties when Haydale produced graphene is used in a polyester composite (2% addition results in a 210% improvement). It is essential that graphene is derivatized for this purpose; otherwise there is an uneven dispersion of graphene within the matrix. It is also essential that the graphene is produced to strict specifications (quality of starting material, type of functionalization and degree of functionalization being of paramount importance) to ensure the end products made from composites are consistent and meet specifications.

So that's the epoxy collaboration announced and we still have news to come on the polyester partner which sounds like it's the larger of the two opportunities

Jerry mentioned lightening conductors a few times at the open day earlier this year:

also see broker comment from proactiveinvestor following today's RNS:

In small caps, Haydale Graphene's (LON:HAYD) composites division is to collaborate on an 18 month aerospace research project in a bid to produce a material less likely to be damaged in the event of an aircraft lightning strike.

NATEP is providing a grant of up to £150,000 towards the £300,000 cost of the research project, of which Haydale will receive up to £100,000.

Broker Cantor Fitzgerald repeated a 'buy' and target price of 200p on the shares (current price: 140p) following the news.

Thanks Timbo: last paragraph is: With a price target of 200p per share, Cantor’s ‘buy’ recommendation sees some 30% upside to the current price of just over 140p per share.
Share sales are much larger than earlier in the year. Chunks of 5000 sells or buy.

Re

'I don’t think there is a generally accepted standard for when graphene nano platelets become graphite and vice versa in respect to number of mono-layers.'

Hayd or AGM have that detailed in their admission doc. They state qualification of nano platelets as 10 layers or less.

As mentioned earlier and now confirmed by someone in the sector single layer is the top notch option. What we don't have enough of yet is multi-layer use data in composites v single layer.

Such data and news performance gains should appear across such companies as we go forward.

The basics are if you have 10 layer platelets v single layer, then there are 10 times less platelets to disperse into the composite for the same percentage of added graphene.

I understand the NGI are working on information to show exactly what amounts to graphene. Gold plated is nothing like pure gold, although the appearance is the same.

I think this addresses most of the points you raise:

Haydale’s core technology is all about taking graphene powder (supplied from elsewhere) and functionalising it.

Unfunctionalised graphene, is pretty useless as it doesn’t mix with anything, so it is of little use in composites, inks or paints. Therefore most (possibly all) commercial end users will require functionalised graphene.

As far as I am aware, the Haydale process can use any graphene feedstock. The graphene feedstock can be in the form of nano platelets or monlayer graphene, I believe much of Haydale’s work on composites has been performed with nano platlets.

I don’t think there is a generally accepted standard for when graphene nano platelets become graphite and vice versa in respect to number of mono-layers.

Haydale are collaborating with graphene suppliers and graphene end users. The quality of end product (derivatised graphene) is likely to be of paramount importance, especially for high end applications. Therefore it is an imperative to have high quality feedstock with a tight specification. It is also important to have a carefully controlled functionalization process to ensure a high quality, high spec, highly reproducible derivatised graphene product for the end users. This is where Haydales IP and expertise comes in.

Perpetuus use the same business model as Haydale. For what it’s worth I understand Perpetuus have been looking to float on Aim recently and I believe there is an investor roadshow slide deck floating around somewhere, as well as a pathfinder prospectus. I don’t think their IP amounts to much from what we have seen so far (see posts earlier on in this thread).
