04/12/2014 19:20 | Mmmm…. Deeply uninteresting, although the divvy increase is welcome. I felt better about GNK when it was yielding more. Will it now be too big a company to grow and will it have its hands full with integrating Spirit? I'm holding, but not hopeful. apad | apad
04/12/2014 19:12 | Good steady figures get again. Long term holder here. | capercaillie
04/12/2014 17:35 | Don't all rush..........! | jeffian
01/12/2014 09:46 | Results out on Thursday, expect to see a rise from here. | waspfactory
04/11/2014 11:16 | It looks like they had to pay a tad more than expected. Still a good deal and things will soon settle down. | libertine
04/11/2014 10:53 | Does it? I guess the answer to the second question is "no". | jeffian
04/11/2014 10:17 | The market hates this deal. Will it be rejected at the AGM? | countryboy
13/8/2014 08:50 | XD Oh, and the tumbleweeds are blowing around in here.... | jbat
04/8/2014 17:36 | Very quiet on here for the moment..... GNK is a great share and as long as the wider market doesn't go to pieces, this should be good for a nice rebound. | jbat
04/7/2014 15:51 | I'm surprised it has bounced back so fast (but I was surprised it sold off yesterday too). Just seen this on the IC website - - just a hold according to them, but maybe some other paper has said something more positive? | mtness2
04/7/2014 12:53 | I'm kicking myself for not buying more. Yesterday's reaction seemed well overdone. | jeffian
04/7/2014 12:27 | Oh, so today, after a little thought, the results are deemed ok. Jeez, I nearly sold half my holding yesterday through frustration. | yf23_1
03/7/2014 18:49 | This is an excellent business. No fireworks but steady progess in sucessive years. | capercaillie
03/7/2014 18:03 | Maybe just not matching the unrealistic expectations, as I mentioned earlier. They only have to appear cautious for a moment and that's them marked down for the day! | ferrism
03/7/2014 17:08 | Who knows what's up? Buy the rumour: Sell the news? Some other brewers down a little. z | zeppo
03/7/2014 16:36 | 4% down after positive statement and outlook. What am I missing? | vulgaris
11/6/2014 11:41 | My timing is usually rubbish too, jeffian, so I take your point. I also think the long-term trend will be OK. I just feel a bit nervous. I'm now looking at the price and realising I have the opportunity to buy back slightly lower including all costs ..... finger hovering over the buy button. Never thought of these as a "trading" share! | ferrism
11/6/2014 11:32 | I tend to agree with you about the market as a whole, ferrism, but I've held GNK through thick and thin (like MARS and some other brewers/pubcos) and I'll probably continue to do so. The share price may go up and down but as long as they go on growing revenues, profits and dividends, the long-term trend will continue in the right direction IMHO. Anyway, my timing is cr@p. Everything I sell 'at the top' shoots up (AVON) and things I cling onto go down the tubes! | jeffian
11/6/2014 11:21 | Finally took the difficult decision to sell these after many, many years of holding. I'm not writing this to try and influence anyone. I'm just sharing my thoughts. I still think GNK is a well-run operation and I will almost certainly buy back into it at some point. I just feel, as far as the share price is concerned, it's become a victim of its own success. It seems to me that analysts have come to regard exceptionally good results as the norm with GNK. Consequently they seem disappointed when the results are "only" very good. (Tempted to make some sort of pun about froth now!) Apart from that I'm generally a bit concerned about the whole market being overdue some sort of bad news. I can't see much better prospects than GNK around so I'll stick with cash for the time being. Missing the dividend already... whimper, whimper. Good luck to all remaining holders. | ferrism
17/5/2014 19:48 | Thank you for the comments. z | zeppo
17/5/2014 12:36 | Such a true and valid point. Not an easy market, The aim now is capital preservation, I think. | elmfield
17/5/2014 12:32 | zeppo, Look at the wider picture. The FTSE 250 fell 219 points yesterday and over 350 points the day before while the FTSE 100 went up (which just goes to show how unrepresentative the 100 is). Greene King is certainly not alone - my portfolio took a hammering across the range. Market reports in today's press suggests it is profit-taking after a good run and a shift from equities into fixed interest. Not sure I believe them, but that's what they say. | jeffian
17/5/2014 12:14 | Fallen £1.00 approx recently. Any ideas? z | zeppo
16/5/2014 01:59 | TY Ferrism - I'll go with the quarter million late trade ! It shouldn't be forgotten too that Greene King (GUNK)has just sold off 275 pubs at an average price of 275K in a property boom - the pub they have sold across town from where I live - the Cross Keys - is a bit of a dive and losing money fast but quite big and I reckon would fetch close to a million spruced up and sold off as residential or to Sainsbury's, so a tidy profit for someone (makes you wonder why Greene King didn't do it up themselves) | finethings
15/5/2014 18:07 | At the risk of causing obesity ..... you could take your pick from the tribunal result in the tax-avoidance case announced yesterday or that quarter million late trade today as possible reasons. | ferrism |
