23/5/2016 08:53 | Absolutely no comment from the CEO ? we were told that Daley was now in charge of checkit. Has poor Mr wilson been sold with Agar? as Agars entire profits for the year barely covered his wages has he been offloaded as part of their strategy of innovation, streamlining operations and investing in infrastructure ?...lol Either way we can see who is the organ grinder here. Well as Black says at least they can get the accounts signed off now for another year but the part "Board aims to improve the performance of the remaining businesses" is pie in the sky since the board has never improved on the performance of any of its businesses unless you know better ? | spec7
23/5/2016 08:48 | Black, what do I know ? I am staggered by the lack of intervention by the major shareholders. Do they not see what is happening ? Do they not care what is happening ? has the Board got compromising photographs of them preventing them intervening ? Goodness knows. Anyhow, shareholders get shafted, value disappears, vast salaries get paid. And nothing happens to change this. Depressing | graham1ty
23/5/2016 08:29 | Graham If they are now selling of the profitable bits to pay their own wages what does that tell you about Checkit ? | blackss
23/5/2016 08:24 | Well i suppose they have to sell something to keep this afloat. Poor old shareholders will end up with nothing here. This time last year it was D&A forced to rescue this in order to get the accounts out. Looks like Agar has been sacrificed to get them out this year. | blackss

23/5/2016 08:08 | only last year Agar Scientific acquires the Qados brand Commercial Director Darren Likely announces the acquisition of Qados, a brand of Elektron Technology. CAMBRIDGE, UK, April 7th 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Agar Scientific, a brand of Elektron Technology, today announced the acquisition of the Qados medical brand. This action positions Agar Scientific as a global leader in the online Microscopy, Lab and Medical supplies business. Qados will incorporated into the Agar Scientific brand from April 7th 2015. The combination of Agar Scientific and Qados creates a single combined brand with more than £6M annual sales and a portfolio that now includes recognised brands from the medical sector all delivered from one central logistics UK centre and via the Agar Scientific eCommerce platform. "As of today, Agar Scientific and Qados are officially together in one great brand - the Agar Scientific Brand," said Darren Likely, Commercial Director. "Part of our strategic growth plan has been to shift toward growing the Agar Scientific brand within the Elektron Technology Group. This acquisition gives us a portfolio of complementary, proven brands as a new springboard and accomplishes in a short time what would have taken us years to build on our own." The teams of people from Agar Scientific and Qados have been working on integration plans since November 2014 to help make sure the combined brands gets off to a good start. "During this process I'm more convinced that the future of our combined companies opens up further opportunities in the near future," Likely said. "As excited as I am about our combined parts of the business, I'm equally excited about the combined talent of both teams." Navid Tabassum, Sales Manager at Agar Scientific Medical, will continue to manage all of the key Qados relationships, including Ulrich Medical, Kubtec and Dilon. Hina Rauf continues her current sales role supporting all related medical products while helping to develop a new portfolio of medical brands suitable for the Agar Scientific ecommerce web site. 23/5/2016 07:53 | Will EKT make £0.37m of "Group pooled costs" savings per annum? "The disposal will be dilutive of earnings initially but the Board aims to improve the performance of the remaining businesses." Improving performance - should have been doing that anyway! Where's John Wilson from the RNS | yoyoy
23/5/2016 07:42 | Things must be going great if they're selling earnings to use for working capital. | arthur_lame_stocks
23/5/2016 07:12 | Agar. So you sell one of the profitable bits, admit that it will be earnings dilutive immediately but say that you "aim to improve the remaining businesses". Well, where have we heard that before ? And it would be a strange Board that said " we aim to continue to destroy existing businesses" ( er, where have we seen THAT for years). So obviously cash is tight. "Used for working capital" means poured into a hole in the Fens | graham1ty

18/5/2016 13:53 | Its depressing to hear this Garb but not a surprise. This total lack of people skills be it staff, agents or direct customers has been an underlying problem for years from what i can see from social media reports like yours here. The management seem to have no perception of how people view this company from the outside looking in. People here have been trying for years to get a change of attitude but we have been described as a rabble and trouble on internal memos i hear. Who will have the last laugh i wonder ? | blackss
18/5/2016 13:28 | after a couple more exchanges, the message is that I can't speak to someone at Bulgin!! I should send my question in on their contact form like a good boy. As I'm sure everyone realises, chatting through issues with people is often far more productive than a simple email exchange - they can ask about my application, refine questions and come up with suggestions. I can't think when I last got such a brush off - normally companies are delighted to talk about their products, pretty much regardless of who is enquiring. I've given up on the discontinued Bulgin product - and will address the problem another way. Meanwhile I've found that a company called Hirschmann make connectors to use instead of the Bulgin Buccaneer range - chunkier, a bit cheaper, although less flexible. I've ordered a few. As you might guess, not an investment for me under the current management! Very good luck in changing their attitudes towards investors & customers! | garbetklb
16/5/2016 13:59 | I've had a reply from Andy Weatherstone : "Hi Andy I have been away for a few days. Generally the aim of our sales structure is that all sales are pushed through the distribution channel. This generally speeds up the supply to the end user and keeps the amount of fixed sales resource to the bare minimum. As you can imagine we have a vast range of connectors and switches and this is constantly being reviewed to ensure it remains up to date and that it is economically worth producing based on current demand. Over recent times we have run a number ' last time buys' offer to our distributors where we are discontinuing a line. You best course of action is to ask RS Components (uk.rs-online.com) or Farnell (www.premierfarnell. Many thanks Andy" I know the product is discontinued by RS/Farnell, but it's still in Bulgin's online catalogue..... Assuming discontinued : 1) Can they suggest someone holding old stock? 2) Do they have a suitable replacement? And they might be interested in updating their catalogue - as I've not mentioned which product...... Should it be so hard? | garbetklb
