Retain BUY on reduced PT. The Carnival bull story has taken a major hit and we look for further detail at the time of Q2 results in late June. In the meantime, our DCF-based PT moves from 2,800p to 2,550p and this leads us to retain our BUY, notwithstanding expected short-term shares weakness.

Carnival now expects full year 2013 net revenue yields to be down 2% to 3%
compared to the previous flat yield guidance for the year. In addition, voyage cancellations beyond those incorporated in the company's previous earnings guidance, as well as increased selling and administrative costs, are expected to reduce earnings by approximately $0.10 per share.

The company now expects full year 2013 EPS to be in the range of $1.45 to $1.65
compared to its previous earnings guidance range of $1.80 to $2.10. The company
continues to expect second quarter 2013 EPS to be in the range of $0.04 to
$0.08 per share despite slightly lower yield expectations.

Support in the 2030-2100 area. Target 2300.

I'd have thought you'd have had enough of shares subject to being raped by American lawyers with your holding in BP. That said Carnival is not expensive, just hope they show more cojones than BP when it comes to payouts even though they have little to argue against gross negligence.

See MKS thread for comparison chart with Next which may be a better place to put some of your 'retailers sector' money with perhaps some in Debenhams as well.

Miata, I'm always amazed that I read a newspaper article on a company and when I look at it's bulletin board you are posting or are hosting it

Read about Carnival being one of the lowest priced shares compared to book value, in today's weekend FT

Low and behold it's another of your boards.

Not been posted on for a while but I have a bit of cash having sold MKS a bit early. Anybody think the last of Carnival's disasters is over.

FT also said lower oil prices will help Carnival

Princess, a subsidiary of US-based cruise ship company Carnival, is investing £930m into two new cruise ships. That comes as travel association ABTA predicts the number of British passengers departing from UK ports this year is expected to cross the one million mark for the first time. The company currently has a fleet of 16 vessels. The first of the two cruise-liners, the Royal Princess, is set to embark on its maiden voyage in June followed by its sister ship Regal Princess next year, The Sunday Express reports.

It effectively increases the annual dividend by 50% which is not to be sneezed at. The company has clearly risen above the short term issues of Costa and a downturn in the cruise market in terms of occupancy and rates. Must be confident for the future.
