Thanks Piedro. The local council making the greens "persona non grata" so they can continue to support the mine without noise from interlopers..

Worth considering that the operation will create 450 jobs and 2250 related jobs - so doubt the govt will throw it out,

Also internationally certified environmentally "in accordance with ISO 14001 of Environmental Management, which sets out the criteria for an environmental management system, and with UNE 22480 - Sustainable Mining Management."

Be interesting to know the reason for the recent dip.

Fidelity have been snapping up a load of shares.

And judging by the printed trades there has been a lot more buying than selling.

Yet price has drifted back short term.

The gap created by the Midas article has pretty well filled now. Price is back at the trendline and oscillators are now oversold. Looks about due a bounce.

Relentless buying recently.

Once the overhang clears price should move up again strongly.

I reckon a bigger seller has been taking advantage since the Midas gap up and demand from that on the 3rd. Plenty of willing buyers though. Including Fidelity it seems.

Infrastructure development well underway at Berkeley Energias’s (BKY) Salamanca Project
Europe’s largest uranium supplier will rejuvenate the local community

After a decade and US$60 million of investment Berkeley Energia (BKY) commenced development of the Salamanca project in Western Spain in August 2016. The US$100 million project will be Europe’s only major uranium mine and one of the biggest producers in the world once in production supplying over four million pounds of uranium concentrate per annum, equivalent to approximately 10% of the continent’s total requirement.

Commenting on the progress of the Salamanca Project, Paul Atherley, Managing Director of Berkeley, stated:

“We are extremely pleased with the continued local support we are receiving which is fantastic and in return we remain absolutely committed to revitalising the local community, bringing much needed jobs, training and new business activity to the area.”

“After a decade of investment we are absolutely delighted to start development of the initial infrastructure which paves the way for the main construction early next year.”

“As work on the ground progresses we move closer to our goal of being one of the world’s lowest cost uranium producers, reliably supplying long term customers from the heart of the European Union.”

Infrastructure development progressing well

The infrastructure development is progressing well with the 5.2 kilometre road deviation, construction of the raw water dam, development of pedestrian footpaths and secure cattle paths and the installation of a Wi-Fi network for the local villagers as part of the Company’s commitment to improve infrastructure for the local community. This initial development is taking place on over 100 hectares of land acquired from more than thirty local landowners.

The appointment of MDM Engineering, part of the Amec Foster Wheeler Group, to carry out the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) marks an important milestone for the Company. The FEED is the execution phase of the project during which the overall engineering and process design is translated into equipment procurement packages and awards to specialist subcontractors.

Huge demand for jobs and training programmes

To date the Company has received 20,518 applications for the first 200 jobs and has provided training for nearly 100 potential employees. The University of Salamanca has estimated that there will be over five indirect jobs created for every direct job, creating a potential of over 2,700 new jobs as a result of the investment.

An international expert has recently advised that the experience in other developed economies is that over time the number of indirect jobs created is generally even higher than this. The policy of preferentially hiring and training local residents has been very well received with the skills training programmes for potential employees continuing to be heavily oversubscribed.

With shipments commencing in 2018 the Salamanca mine will supply customers in Europe, the US and Asia, many of whom are expanding their nuclear reactor fleets to meet 2030 carbon targets with 65 new reactors currently under construction worldwide.

Demand for uranium is expected to grow significantly from 2018 as US and EU utilities commence re-contracting for uranium supply and will be competing with China which is currently bringing on line seven new reactors a year and has just allocated a further US$570 billion to construct an additional sixty reactors over the next decade.

Proactive Investors - Berkeley Energia's Salamanca project build underway

"It is expected to generate an average annual net profit after tax of US$116 million."

An annual profit of $116 million yet the current mcap is only £107 million. Quite something.

Wiseacre, the video ties up the BKY story very well, potential supply deficit going forward BKY should be very well positioned as regards not only timing to come onstream into stronger demand and prices but even if the Uranium market does not move as dramatically as some suggest, a strong element of protection provided especially with the economics of the project being so robust (being able to produce profitably at a price way below the current spot price). If prices increase as PA expects in the video then a huge opportunity to be significantly leveraged to increases in the Uranium price. Down side protection plus exposure to the upside.

We've already seem a long term off take agreement with a commodity trading company delivered at a significant premium to the current price (and an even bigger premium to their cost of production). With the utilities close to rolling off many of their longer term contracts there could be possibility that this translates into further premium off takes for BKY especially as these end users need to guarantee their security of supply.

BKY at a very interesting stage of its development...

Paul Atherley, MD of Berkeley Energia, providing a useful update on the building of the Salamanca uranium project in Spain - the only uranium mine currently in construction - and why the timing of this project fits perfectly with the severe downturn in the uranium spot market.

Once this overhang clears price should head back up.
