I think today's price drop is due to Black Rock continuing to sell down their position. I can't see any other reason - the company news is good, even the uranium spot price is up.

Sell at $43. Spot $25. Cost $15. Price goes down. Well, I am holding onto mine for a couple of years at least.

RNS out this morning. EU / Euratom approval and countersignature for off-take agreement and also welcoming development of Salamanca mine. Very good news.

A Chinese company may want to buy a strategic stake in BKY.

Who may be the exploration joint venture partner? This is very significant. Ultimately this company is likely to be taken over by one of the majors.

And with the new asset, the price to book value is going to be even lower!!

RNS out this morning. It contains results from new drilling at Zona 7, expanding the existing resource with new high grade intercepts. All in all, Zona 7 is a brilliant find, and it is so low cost to exploit it transforms the economics of the whole project. The RNS also announces that the company is in talks with a partner to begin a joint venture to explore new areas around the mine. All in all, very good news indeed.

Of course Langostino is a keyboard "greenie" - although, ironically, I'd argue that he is protesting against a very green company. Given global warming, and given that solar, wind, fusion etc. are still developing technologies, we absolutely need nuclear power, at least for the next thirty years. It's literally the only way to keep the lights on.

(BTW, I write this as somebody with no investments in fossil fuels, and a portfolio very heavily weighted towards new "green" technologies).

Lango a question for you. You seem remarkably well informed on even the most obscure opposition to this project. Over the past 12 months you have posted almost immediately the link to the opposition's PR.Some of these are tiny online newspapers of which there are literally hundreds in Spain who appear willing to publish almost anything. You are not a shareholder, nor are you short the stock. Why are you posting on this board? If you are a greenie then fine, you are entitled to your view and we can all understand your views in that context.

I suppose there isn't a mining project in the world that isn't subject to minor harassment from these kinds of eco-idiot. I wish they'd show a little more courage, and go and explain in person to the miners why they should all lose their jobs. And, having done that, they could explain to the rest of us how our societies are going to work without electricity.

langostino,

I suspect that the authorities in Spain {as in other latin cultures} will not open an investigation unless there has been a formal complaint ....

Q.E.D.

Not quite, Piedro - The Guardia Civil and regional environment department 'consider'
that 'extraction' works requiring permit have been carried out. Separately, the prosecutor for the environment department is opening investigations into tree-felling in a protected area. These are not opposition groups.
Why people with their own money on the table are unwilling to confront conflicting views remains a mystery to me.

Hi Herlat! I think I know the reason for the negativity.

Its uranium, so the keyboard virtue signallers imagine that they're doing something good by spreading scare stories, when they don't realise that the alternative to nuclear power right now is fossil fuels, which will do far far more serious long term damage to the environment.

Looked at long term, all is going well for Berkeley Energia: production is on course, the spot price for uranium is predicted to rise to over $50 in 2018, when the mine is due to come online, and a number of serious competitors (e.g. Paladin, Cameco) are in dire financial straits.

Lango/Marvelman They have completed two rounds of financing with very sophisticated investors notably Resource Finance Corporation - one the biggest and most successful mining private equity funds.RFC invested at a premium to the equity price as I recall.Prior to RFC's investment you were posting similar comments about BKY not being able to raise finance. It appears to me that BKY has done everything it has said it will do and the share price has responded accordingly. Why the negativity?

Marvelman, yes, the company would be legally obliged to report any serious investigations, if there were any. Since they haven't, I conclude that there aren't. You can believe what you like.

Mmm

Hasn't there recently been a sucsseful placing. I would have thought those guys would have done due diligence.

My understanding is that the technical term is a 'fire engine' protest.

Translated for the non believers...thanks to langostino. Stop hiding heads in sand and listen to both sides of the argument. Why no mention of these ongoing investigations from the company?. There will be no finance agreement until these matters are settled and it is certain that it has already been picked up in their due diligence.

"initial development" is what is bugging some people as it does not imply permission for mineral extraction

The half-year report is out on the company website.

It's strong and encouraging, and it represents real progress towards opening the mine. However, it doesn't contain any major new news; most of its contents we already knew.

Please note the following phrase: "Following recent ministerial approval, the Company has now received all the European Union and National level approvals required for the initial development."

I take most encouragement from the line in today's statement: "Strong interest from financiers and strategic partners" That is what we should look out for and will give a huge fillip to the share price, which is currently undemanding.
