13/5/2015 10:03 | Morning QP, Keith has the "handle" on the way that weather may or may not affect Sykes. One would think that a cold spell in the winter months would indeed be a boost for the heating division. A hot summer ,in the meantime, would help the Air Conditioning side. Extreme weather conditions for a few weeks period certainly has helped Sykes in the past. All IMHO etc. | ignoble
13/5/2015 09:38 | Hi Keithfox and Ignoble. Reading my FT this morning, it seems that meteorologists are firmly predicting a moderate to strong El Nino event this year. We had the last El Nino in 2010 and a major El Nino event in 1998. Any views please on whether the well-documented global weather extremes caused by El Nino events impact/benefit in any way on Sykes' business? Thanks. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
07/5/2015 08:29 | I think you're right Keith, yesterdays statement was very welcome after the disappointing Interims and Q3 outlook. Good Q4 and outlook for this year. Soft comparables for the first 3 qtrs of this year too. | cockerhoop
07/5/2015 07:58 | I bought some more yesterday as I think the news was good. The boss has told us that they were doing well at year end and has not changed that for the first half so far i.e. 70% of it. They blogged that they were very busy during the 'protracted cold spell' in Feb/March so with just a steady end to the half it's pretty well certain to be well ahead of last year. Net funds are on the up again which is going to underpin more dividends with a very good chance of another 5m handout later in the year. They are handing out 10m a year and keeping net funds up between 15 and 20m which would suggest there may be the chance of a bigger handout somewhere along the line. I am quite happy to keep money with them earning 8% plus a year with the chance of some capital growth too. A decent summer could see the shares up at previous highs. All in all, I was very happy with the results. | keithfox
06/5/2015 21:16 | Good Evening ... No fireworks but a rather encouraging Chairman's Statement Hopefully Europe starts to pick up in the coming months ...time will tell | ignoble

06/5/2015 08:07 | Concur. Very robust figures. Buoyant outlook. Strong core business. Good and reliable dividend. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
06/5/2015 08:05 | Surprised they are going down, may buy some more if they go much lower. | keithfox
06/5/2015 07:58 | I agree keith - better than I was expecting as well. Momentum in Q4 seemingly will continue into the new year so hope for improved results this year depending on the weather factor. Reckon the share price will stick in the 300's for now. | jeff h
06/5/2015 07:54 | All in all a good set of results I reckon. Net funds up and a good divi declared with a good chance of another one later in the year. Things improved during the second half and a pretty good statement for the future too. Better than I was expecting I have to admit. Well done ASY. Would expect some sort of upward movement in the shares, but what do I know? | keithfox
20/4/2015 08:26 | Enjoyed the film. Great reminiscences about the early days of Sykes. Looking forward to Part II of the film - the future for Sykes told in interviews and film with the current management. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa

16/4/2015 18:11 | I'm titbit less at the moment ... Happy Holder still ...seems to me that someone is happy to mop up stock at or around these levels. Cannot be too far from their earnings announcement , we shall see if the last months have been kind or otherwise ! | ignoble
16/4/2015 07:50 | Hi Keithfox and ignoble, Always follow your friendly banter with interest. Hope you don't mind! What's the latest titbits with Sykes please? Thanks. QP | quepassa
18/3/2015 22:04 | Blog mentions new depot in Lyon. | jeff h
03/3/2015 17:20 | Latest blog re boilers is interesting as they say they have been 'exceptionally busy' during this drawn out cold snap. Good to know they are doing well and that they are seeing it as a helpful cold snap. The last 2 months have been a bit up and down but looks like they have done well and it certainly is going to be better than last winter. On the downside Nov and Dec were not much help and the currency rates are working against them but at least they are on the up now. | keithfox
