I recently had the opportunity to visit Azerbaijan and see Zenith’s assets in the country, as the company is going through an exciting period of change I thought it would provide an opportunity to evaluate both the portfolio and its people. I will be putting out a fuller piece in the blog, hopefully on Monday but had noticed a bit of share price weakness and with incoming mail asking me if all was well wanted at first to say that on the ground I was very impressed on both counts.

With a significant portfolio of differing assets to drill or workover in the next year or so, and having established a very high quality team on the ground my initial prognosis is very promising. I will detail more very shortly but holders should sleep easy in their beds, Zenith is a well run, asset rich play with significant upside.

I agree with your summation. I think AC has learnt from his mistakes over the last year and we had a great recovery in the last few months upto November. Since then, it has retraced, I suspect largely due to delays.

I would rather they take a sensible approach, get it flowing and stabilised and at good commercial rate. A big chunk of the 1,000bopd end of Q1/2018 target needs to come from the Zardab field, so they must work diligently to get it right, not trying to meet arbitrary timelines. Trying cheap and quick fixes can (as investors have witnessed here) cost far more in the longrun.

I look forward to the promised update.

Trouble is...all the excitement and rise from 7-12p was down to the z-21 blowout...No one was excited about the esp programmer nor z-28.Now that z-21 won't start until the new year...the fizz has gone flat

I can only repeat that AC confirms we will have an RNS within two weeks. He also repeated to me that nothing has occurred operationally to make them even suspect the Z28 workover won’t be successful.

He seemed to be keen to get the message out to shareholders that he felt that the company was being unfairly maligned, when in fact much of the ‘bad news’ has been because they are not fully in control of the timetable. He was quite happy for you to know that it was the suppliers of the ESP that was the cause of the delays and not inefficiency on the part of ZEN. I’m sure you have the intellectual capacity to understand the situation.

I’m not an apologist for him by the way. I think he is far too loose with his comments/opinions. My brother also pointed out that the company were being disingenuous with the ZEN profit figures on the comparison chart with other small E&Ps in the meeting presentation. However, as I think someone suggested, operational success on Z28 will move the share price well beyond where it’s been.

I have a good feeling about Z28, and if that comes in as prognosed, all bets are off.

Amidst all this doom and gloom, its important to remember what was said in the last Zardab update by COO Mike Palmer;


"20/11/17 - Our operational team has done a tremendous job so far and I am very pleased with our progress. Indeed, we have no indication that the workover of Z-28 will not be successful. We still have a number of slow and difficult tasks during the weeks ahead to complete the workover, but I am confident we can achieve a great result"

Well as they've apparently had no esps delivered and theres been no production update recently I'm presuming its logical to believe production has dropped rather than risen recently but they do still have the Z's to save the day.
Reckon we're waiting on the RNS to say they've screwed them up too before capitulation just hard to see what reason there'd be to buy the bounce at that point?

So far we are taking the word of 'shareholders' who went to the conference.If what being posted by 'buffon' is correct...slight hypocrisy when he's been told to keep quiet by the CEO in case the lawyers come in...yet he/she's posted it on a BB.Still liable and I hope you are careful in heat you comment on these boards.What has been discussed looks to me like non public info.Imho. They need to release an update asap

He didn't want it made public because most likely it was down to zen's fault, ie not ordering them promptly, or some other incompetence..

In fact AC specifically checked that nobody was videoing the presentation and Q&As before telling us that it was Schlumberger who were playing silly b*ggers over the supply of the ESPs. He said he was concerned there would be lawyers on his doorstep if his comments became publicly recorded.
