23/6/2011 09:16 | Thanks for posting that link, traderabc. Especially good of you to point out the relevant part! I do hold Jim Rogers in high regard so perhaps there is a future for natural gas. Meanwhile the EIA stats last week were pretty bad. Consensus for today's figures shows an expected build of 90Bcf. We shall see. | ferrism
08/6/2011 20:12 | By the way, analysts expect 77Bcf increase in storage when the EIA stats are released tomorrow. We shall see. | ferrism
08/6/2011 19:23 | Yes, hazl, there's a huge difference between PHAG and NGAS, UNG, LNGA etc. PHAG is a proper tracker. It holds real physical Silver. All the gas based ETF's are, in my opinion, a con. They don't stand a chance of replicating the gas price for more than a few days. The best you could say about them is that they sometimes track the direction it follows. Honestly they are no better than that. On most occsions the commodity has to rise dramatically just for the ETF to mark time. PHAG is an excellent tracker which I have also held successfully. In my opinion you would do well to keep away from the gas ETF's unless you are quite certain of the direction of the underlying commodity over a few days and definitely not during the period when the options have to be swapped!!!! (Unless they happen to be in backwardation, which is so rare you may as well ignore it.) EZJ and FLYB do sound like a good way of betting against oil. I may research that one further. Thanks for the idea. All the above is, of course, in my humble opinion and please do your own research! | ferrism
08/6/2011 14:26 | Ive heard that natural gas is ready for a move up but though Ive successfully held phag am wary of etfs these days have bought into ezj and flyb on a bet against oil price | hazl
08/6/2011 09:12 | It's moving up because the latest Accuweather update is suggesting higher than average temperatures across most of the US. The assumption being that more electricity will be consumed in order to run cooling systems. That should translate into increased NG consumption. On top of that there has been some favourable coverage of Natural Gas in terms of its long term potential. | ferrism
08/6/2011 09:06 | so then why is this moving up....if gas is so plentiful? | maty
02/6/2011 16:33 | Just tell me where all that gas went .............. Analysts, who are always right, were expecting a build of 105Bcf, not 83! That's quite a margin of error. Meanwhile the chart screams SELL! | ferrism
27/5/2011 16:50 | stirring today | brando69
17/5/2011 22:17 | if you want a share that's going up at the moment, check out SEA | brando69
14/5/2011 22:00 | Not too bad on IG if my foray with NGAS longs is anything to go by. | chopsy
14/5/2011 21:30 | You can short some of them through spread betting co's but the spread is massive. | eric gardener |
