Don't think it will last long. There's still a massive excess of gas. Demand is still weak. Converting to gas is not seen as positive in a political sense. The oil lobby will, as always, reign supreme. I'm afraid it's just a fact of life. They would rather see the stuff flared off than affect their cosy relationship with the government. Add to that the contango effect which is in place on these etf's the majority of the time, you have a recipe for financial disaster.
All IMHO, DYOR, etc.

is it me or is the price trend turning upwards?
as gas reserves decline, surely this will be good for NGAS price.
only risk is if shale gas dangers are averted and then we may have an over-supply issue that might put pressure on the rising price of this ETF?
hopefully more people will convert their cars to run on gas as opposed to petrol/diesel and then we should see a tightening of reserves and the price of the gas index strengthen. here's hoping. i've only dabbled in this ETF because the price curve looked like it had reached the bottom of its downward trend and the only way is UP! not the best reasons for buying in - I know. :-)

abc, thanks for that, my sentiments exactly, why are these people paying $90+ for a barrel oil, when they have huge reserves of nat gas that they are being given away for pennies. It doesn't make much sense to me.

got in at .33 and then again at .31 feels like the reversal is now whirring into gear

Yes, a clear upturn in the price of gas (nymex).

I suspect the longer term factors which will be driving this in a few months time aren't fully realised as of yet.

I expect this to trend up slowly to 4ish and then break out and 6 or 8 would be a realistic target.

Easier than printing money.

In fact I'm due to start trading it as of tommorow.

Is that chill on the Eastern Sea Board driving this bounce now? Can't see any appreciable rise in the gas price, but, the underground storage is decreasing nicely. Need to break down from the upper 5 year range line for the storage, though, the sooner the better.

Can one see the red line of the nymex gas in the header bouncing slightly?

mmmm.... those are very small increments, I'm not at all sure the bounce is well established.

well yes also a good way, whatever works for you really. I may just trade a few myself sperately but the ones I bought a few weeks back are a long term hold.

I always go in small after a prolonged decline.

Not so sure there Eric - prefer trading this one.

ahhh rising back up nicely - they tried to shake everyone out in the last drop all carefully engineered and seen it a thousand times.

Trust me folks I'm never wrong (well very rarely). Buying now and waiting 7 months will be like walking out into you front garden picking up bundles of £50 notes.

so simple, so easy and profitable.

Today it appears to be testing the short term upward trend line, it should bounce in the next few days. If it drops a tad more, it gets into a stronger support area, if it breeches that, run for the hills!

Me neither, however that bounce came just in time for me!

yep, I've taken the long term view here and of course it's a slow process - slightly boring aswell.

But I haven't gone massively long here - the key is not to do too much screen watching and not get shaken out. I still do think this is one of the best opportunities to make some money availible at the moment.

It seems to have found some support in October, retested it in November and we are on a slight up trend presently, so far so good.

Thanks for that, brando, but please see 189 and comment - i.e. may not be relevant here.
