On the plus side, Sydbank stock is down 30% in a few weeks, and like many banks globally, they are keeping things tight and raising cash.

On the negative side, all other banks are doing the same.

The only way to tell is if you hold shares and can do both dummy sells and dummy buys. The MMs CERTAINLY don't want you to know!

Agree well said - the company will by end of May sort out the banking situation, rationalise and go again with their Gabon operations ongoing and that timber demand still solid while preserving the forest and providing income to the local communities who then in turn support the continual existence and growth of the forest - Q2 we’ll see on the operations front soon enough but it’s not worth <1p….

kaos. Interesting. The assumption is that this type of forestry is being practised by woodbois.
However the main objection to tropical forest monetization is the roads and development which accompanies it. This is almost unavoidable and inevitably leads to the destruction of ecosystems

cohabitation and preservation is knowledge and respect - not conviction and believes

We usually capture both small and young trees as well as tall and thick adult trees. It is relatively light in the forest, as there is no compact joint of the crowns, as is typical for monoecious forests. As a result, the undergrowth is also more lush and varied, especially in gaps.

The trees in the selection forest are divided into three groups, according to the social position they occupy. The position of an individual tree does not depend on its height, but on the surroundings of other trees.

Waiters are trees in the lower position, shaded from above by taller trees and from the sides by other waitors. There is a fierce struggle for survival among these trees, as there is little light. Only the most durable ones survive, but they only grow a little in height and thickness. Trees stay in this position for up to 20 years, but exceptionally they can wait up to 150 years (eg fir). Their height can be from a few 10 cm to 20 m, depending on the height of the trees they dominate. The characteristic of the waiters is that they develop a good root system, which helps them grow a lot when the space is freed up.

The runners are in the middle position. These are individual trees or small groups of trees that have opened their way upwards towards the light. They grow in light shafts that are created when one or more old trees are removed (felling, tree collapse due to age, disease or pests, catch). Their number is small, but they are characterized by very fast height growth. These trees are very unstable and susceptible to being caught. There is a very fierce battle for supremacy between the runners.

In the upper layer are the winners. These are trees that have secured a living space that allows them to grow and develop best. They are above the others and of different ages, which depends on the number of years they have spent waiting. Although these are usually the tallest trees in the forest, they can also be shorter trees if they grow in gaps. Even among the winners there is a constant struggle for supremacy, but it is much less intense than among the runners. If one tree lags behind in growth, others can outgrow it.

The characteristic of the sorting forest is that it is very stable. This is the result of the stepped structure of the forest, which provides the trees of the upper position with enough growth space. Therefore, they develop well and become more resistant to damage from injuries. In addition, they offer some protection to trees in lower positions, which are not as stable. Due to its stability, the clearing forest is ideal as a protective forest on slopes.

The stock of wood in the clearing forest is stable and does not change significantly. The optimal stock in our clearing forests ranges from 300 to 500 m3/ha. Of course, in certain cases it can also be higher or lower.

volsung - as always - there IS sustainable forestry

gtranslate

In its essence, selective forest management is the original form of forest exploitation. Man took only what he needed from the forest. As long as the needs were not too great, the forest was regularly restored and preserved. Over time, the needs increased and man encroached on the forest more and more often, and the forest could no longer regenerate itself. The forest became poorer and poorer, and in the end it was destroyed by man.

Of course, this did not go unnoticed. Different forms of management began to appear, which were supposed to ensure sustainability, but were still too destructive for the forest. Towards the end of the 19th century, individual foresters became aware of the failure of the established forms of management and began to develop real selective management, which ensures the sustainable exploitation of the forest. In the world, the main initiators of electoral management were the Swiss Amonn and Biolley, while the initiators in our country were Hufnagel, Schollmayer, Pahernik and Pogačnik. The clearing method of management was intensively introduced after the Second World War until, at the end of the 20th century, it merged into a form of management called the relaxed forestry technique (STGG).

The main characteristic of selective management is that we pay attention to individual trees and not to stands, as is typical of other forms. Because of this, selective management is much more difficult to implement, we have to monitor the forest carefully at all times and control the implemented measures. We need to know the tree species and their requirements well, as well as the conditions of the individual site. The correct implementation of selective management ensures the sustainability of the forest, the sustainability of forest yields for the owner, and at the same time the forest performs all its functions at all times.

Online limits have dropped significantly over the last hour, some retail brokers are 'at best' on just £1k of stock.

IG now want a premium for decent size.

Looks positive.
