Why don't they just delist WFC like Sheff Utd did with SUT and then, once in full ownership and thw WFC shareholders bought out, they would invest in the club. The plc is just a drag, of course they don't want to invest for the benefit of WFC holders

God is back.

I thought he should have walked round the pitch last week, I know he's not the manager but it would have given the crowd a lift.

Pretty horrific.

At these prices I certainly fancy a few but maybe the received wisdom, don't touch any banks anywhere until things settle down, is right.

I thought of it too, in fact tried to buy Thursday but it didn't go through - which was just as well!

Something in common here with Lloyds/HBOS - will Wachovia prove a burden too much?

Huge volumes on analyst downgrades these last two days.

Bought a few again on the cheap for the long term. :O)

If I were the new chairman I would do everyone in Watford a favour and close the club down.

I wish the club would sod off somewhere else, perhaps they could merge with Luton and sod off there.

The silence from the club is deafening. Has Simpson sold his shares? He resigned as chairman and also I believe as a director. What is the Russo gameplan? Everyone seems to be waiting for them to make a move. The interim chairman is Ashcroft's policeman - oh happy days. Still a 1-0 win tomorrow will bring a smile to everyones faces.

Simpsons gone then. Must admit being a chairman of any football club is for the insane.

Watford have been drawn to face Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup and Mackay is relishing the clash.

"I'm delighted to be playing a Premiership club because it'll be a fantastic test," he said.

--- Cant even beat barnsley - what test is mackay talking about

Under "normal" circumstances there might have been some takers for managers position - but with Homer seeking to sell what job security is there?
Personally I would be happy with Curbishley, but please not Dowie, nor John Gregory. It's too small too far south and too low wages for Big Sam, so possibly Steve Cotterill (or has he been taken already?), but the pick for me would be Darren Ferguson (as if we have the luxury of a pick!!) Could get some further tasty loans from the old man though.

3.5m for Ellington. That was his decision against the advice of his head scout apparently.

It was the shocking use of the Premier League money which has led to this.

I wonder who'll want to take over?

I think he is was an excellent coach but perhaps not a great tactician - got the best out of King and Young but I think since Burkinshaw left we have won something like 12 out of 48 which is relegation form. He's also been good copy for the press.

On the downside I'm not sure how much he is responsible for our financial predicament and falling out with the watford Ob doesn't help communication with the fans.

Lets just hope his replacement isn't the next Lewington else half the crowd will end up on life support from boredom.

a. Shame boothroyd brought in so many awful players ( check back on thread )
b. He wasnt ever honest - just talked about the posives of loosing
c. crumpled when keith burkenshaw left - thought he could do it alone
d. team was already assembled when they were promoted.

Really dont see anything special with boothy, especially his weird decisions like being 3-2 down and subbing a defender.

just hope that simpson is next

What a great shame Boothroyd has been sacked.

1. Only the second manager to ever take Watford into the top flight.
2. Got us in the play offs on relegation.
3. Had all the best players sold in the last 2 seasons and not allowed to replace them. Where did the Young, King, Bouazza etc money go? No wonder it has been hard.
4. Changed the style successfully this season to make Watford more entertaining.

To be honest, at the start of the season, I'd have had no idea Watford would have been as good as this (above relegation).
