spooky,

would not necessarily disagree. As posted WGB might be one
to watch coming Out of a recession, however it looks like we are just entering one.

I've highlighted potential cyclicality previously and suggested that
it may be worth reading the 2008 and 2009 annual reports - all be it there have
been changes in the business since, it still relies heavily on discretionary consumer spending.

In terms of the brands, there is inherent value as clearly shown by the royalty income. However, there is arguably high operational gearing in the wider business.

I've also pointed out a number of times the BOD have not bought recently.

If you have any input on the longer term, would be interesting to hear.

There are hundreds of companies looking for a cure for coronavirus, until they are tested and got approval means nothing.

Back to Walker Greenbank. Moat of the wallpaper expensive and its not for the DIY market it needs a professional decorator to hang, hence no one wants tradesmen in their houses at the moment due to infection, neither will a proportion of the public be spending money with their jobs on the line.

There will be profit warning that is a certainty caused by a sudden downturn in businesses.

The only businesses doing OK are the Supermarkets selling food.

Slightly confused by the discussion here. Walker Greenbank are going to warn, just like practically every other company on the stock market. That was fairly clear two or three weeks ago when the shares were in the 70s and it made a degree of sense to sell there. The shares have halved and may well fall further when the warning appears. However, i think the right discussion to be having is about the companies market position, the merits of its brands, the duration of the current slowdown and the long term valuation of the business.

At some point this may be an interesting opportunity, as it was coming out
of the last recession. Even if you bought when the share price had Trebled
from the 2009 low, you could have still made approx 900% selling
within 10% of the 2017 high.

It might be different this time and personally would want to see directors buying in quantity. Worth watching. All imv only, please DYOR .No current holding.

Never mind, a profit warning for one man is a top up time for a Daisy.

If we get locked down for 12 weeks, I can almost guarantee that my wife will start decorating!

I hate wallpaper though, so I won't let her put any of that up.

I understand this market and also retail having had connections over the years. Decorating houses will come to a standstill as people stay in their homes and wont want tradesmen decorating when they could be infecting homeowners.

That is bad enough but retail trade is collapsing Mountain Warehouse see a 50% fall in just one week and that is before the new advice today, not to go out of your homes unless absolutely necessary.

Sales here could be already collapsing expect a profit warning any time soon.

Such an over reaction on a long term timescale as with all shares at the moment. As warren buffet says when all around you are greedy be fearful and when all around you are fearful be greedy. This was so so true in 2008 as well.

People wont be decorating their homes while in isolation, so its unsurprising the share price crashing. I can see a major profit warning here and the possibility the firm will not have much of a future.

A similar sector Laura Ashley went into administration today.

A 1.6% Net return is less than 24 hrs.
As I mentioned buying, it's appropriate to mention selling.
This is a financial site, the focus is on making money.
