Just to reiterate my position about Middle Class working from home couples doing up houses (BOOM): Here are a selection of articles:

Quote from Vogue (Feb 2020):
"
Pinterest reports searches for “wallpaper” are up 41 percent year over year. Why? As the design pendulum swings from muted to maximalist, wallpaper is a fabulous way to express your own taste and eclecticism.

Studentinvestor - I think you are probably right, but I just feel more like trading this market. I had a look at Sigmaroc and it looks interesting but coudn't be more different from WGB. More of an investment rather than a trade.

Kick back and crack open a beer bottle. 100p within 18 months. Nothing skyrockets immediately.

Well done goliard - I bought for long term investment... But trading is also a good idea..

I sold up recently as the price had stopped moving so I will probably miss a big rise now! Still got a 30% profit so not complaining.

More sellers than buyers?
I'm not selling the merits of owning WGB shares well enough to non-artisitic punters.
I should say 99.9% of people who own William Morris wallpaper do not get Covid19.... I need to turn WGB into a Covid wunderkind drug company..

If you spend most of your waking life either working from home OR doing DIY wallpapering in the evening, you are extremely unlikely to get Covid, flu or a cold or virus of any sort whatsoever..

DIY with WGB products protects you from illness.

After this recent fall WGB is about 0.4 of a NETNET (its that low that its approaching half a NETNET company - and that definition of NETNET gives NO VALUE AT ALL to owning "William Morris Ltd" (as its an intangible).

WGB, makes multi million profits, gives dividend and is in the growth area of DIY home improvements during middle class work from home (here, in EU and in USA). If it ever did get ito trouble it could sell William Morris Ltd company for a fortune.

Really this should be trading merrily in the 70p to 80p range with optimism of breaking £1 soon after.

I have bought some wgb on a spending spree along with Sigmaroc, Lloyds, ans Keller. This is very cheap for the brands available. Money will transfer to the patient

I might top up again... Its worth noting for weak holders that news states that DIY is booming while middle classes working from home.

The arts and crafts movement is also booming (probably thanks to the Beeb) and Walker Greenbank owning all rights to William Morris Ltd (the founder of Arts and Crafts) is a potential gold mine.

Cash headroom if £17.8m against banking facilities. Haven't taken the time to check what their facilities are but it should be straightforward. Improved position from last update.

They comment on liquidity, but not on their net cash position, or net debt.

debs perhaps read kingfisher pre close update again:

The important points are:
1. BOOM IN DIY DURING WORK FROM HOME MONTHS.
2. MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE MORE LiKELY TO BE WORKING FROM HOME
3. WGB SELL MIDDLE CLASS DIY AND HOME IMPROVEMENT PRODUCTS
4. CAN UP OUR ON-LINE PRESENCE (ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE)

OH are you telling me they will make paint?

The paint market already competitive and most brands are made from a few manufacturers like Crown Pains who believe it or not used to manufacture own brand for multiple DIY markets i.e. Homebase, Woolies etc.

The top pain for designers is Farrow and Ball which used to be sold by John Lewis now the sell Sanderson and The Little Green paint company.

Farrow & Ball however is top quality paint for interior decoration.

As for Sanderson I think its a licensed paint but not certain, there are very few manufacturers of paint in the UK and scores of brands have lost count.

gotiard: I Agree and more: masks are a mistake (they dont help anyway as people store in dirty pockets, put on with dirty hands and share masks with house mates (as expensive items)). I say they dont work as mask wearing compulsory in places where second wave appearing and medical studies from Saudi (in 1999) show you're statistically more likely to get flu or colds if wear a veil/mask.

I'm saying all this as masks stop SOCIAL SHOPPING and BROWSING and hence the 15% down.. However its not going to change anytime soon as we need to up our on-line presence ASAP.

I read that sales we're down 32% but last month down 15% which shows improvement. I think 15% down is pretty good. Maybe it's just me but my household was not out shopping much this month and many trades were not open until later in July. With shares down around 50% that seems like the start of a recovery. Cash also up. Very happy to read a contrary view though and please keep it up as I am happy to change my mind if I can see where I am wrong. My big fear is what happens with the inevitable second wave? Will it be lapping at the shore or a tsunami? I think Sweden will ultimately be seen as doing well with allowing more people to be infected early on whereas Germany will see a bigger second wave.

Oh dear debsdowner. First you say people cannot read, then walker greenbank do not make paint. You need to read with the future in mind not the past.

Joe Say: Nope - it ties in with shops opening full time. Would expect BIG bounce up as DIY shops fully open.... However going forward we need to up our presence in the posh end of ON-LINE sales.... In "fully" open world we are 15% down. We now need to get the 15% back (AND HIGHER) by tapping into the DIY boom via on-line market campaigns.

Its great that factories are, more or less, full steam ahead - and getting new sales in USA.

There has been a bounce but not bounced back and while in lockdown few people spent money on upmarket wallpaper as it required a tradesman.

Paint was doing well however but WGB do not make paint.

In the meantime shop prices still falling :

Good luck but you may be in for a long haul in the short to medium term.

Is it a case of clever wording

The comparative is in the 4 weeks to 24 July 2019 - were they particularly low or high in that very selective period?
