ronin92: Lim Hua Min, non-executive director, has purchased another 330k shares over the last week raising his connected party stake to nearly a quarter of issued share capital. Quite a vote of confidence.
topvest: I've had cold feet over these and sold out today at break-even. Definitely lots of value on offer. Results were disappointing overall and outlook vague. A very cheap company though and crying out to be acquired by a big boy like Brewin Dolphin or Charles Stanley at a much higher share price (probably £1 or so). Good luck to those that remain, but think they want to retain independence.
hvs: Agree with you. Good share to have and nice to see the uptick.
topvest: “Steady” results is what they say, which can otherwise be translated to mean slightly disappointing. Delay in results appears to have been caused by some relatively minor prior year restatements by the looks of things. Seem to be a bit prone to minor restatements which is not great from a financial control perspective. I guess these results were priced in as the share price had reduced in expectation of a flat year. Nothing very positive and nothing very negative. Definitely a value stock with a 5% yield. Difficult to see the value being unlocked, unless they can speed up the revenue growth or do a transaction. Super cheap though for a £30m turnover and c£1m profit wealth management business. To a bidder it would be worth £1 or so in my view. What do others think? It does look like they have now largely tackled the regulatory, system changes and office moves so they can hopefully focus on their strategy in the current year. Let’s see if directors buy a few more.
glawsiain: Simon thompson at IC covers WCW. He last wrote after the interims: "underlying pre-tax profit increased by almost two-thirds to £394,000 on revenue up 16 per cent to £15.4m in the six-month trading period, buoyed by a £500m year-on-year increase in assets under management and administration (AUMA) to £5.3bn, and a good showing from the company’s structured products investment division. Discretionary and advisory funds increased by a quarter, and Walker Crips’ wealth management arm (accounting for 10 per cent of AUMA) is now seeing the benefits of its rising recurring revenue. Offering a near 5 per cent dividend yield, priced on a modest 10 times annual operating profit to enterprise value (Walker Crips has net cash of 14p a share on its balance sheet), and rated on a 27 per cent discount to book value, there is value here. I am not the only one who thinks so as non-executive director Lim Hua Min purchased 200,000 shares around the current price last month."
ben value: It would not surprise me to see Walker Crips Group WCW going up a bit on Thursday when Simon Thompson writes about it in the IC. He had it as one of his bargain shares. It has also been mentioned in the Deep Value site. I bought a few more this morning. regards
djgrantb: Sp drops immediately on 2.5k share sell, yet doesn't rebound on 2k buy, £1250 trade moves sp? Crazy price action..
josephrobert: Looks like we are in business - am expecting a crack at the long standing resistance mid price resistance in the low 50's - don't know how that ties in with the recent director sale of 60k though but then again the directors haven't had a good sucess record themselves with their share sales and buys so far. Sooner or later this resistance will be broken.
josephrobert: I can see two main themes 1.} The mix between xo vs advisory and discretionary is moving strongly to more profitability 2.} The pipeline of business is getting stronger and stronger - while the announcements of new investment managers come and go it is important to remember that it takes time to transfer accounts from other investment companies. The investment manager has to not only get used to working in a new company but most of the first year would be spending going out to clients, explaining the benefits of the move to WCW and getting things repapered. Then the stock comes over cash or inspecie and all that takes time. After that first year then the investment manager can get on with gathering more assets, and in combination with the transfer of accounts to WCW only then becomes profitable.
josephrobert: Guess that today's RNS explains that an ex employee is selling some stock against the barrage of buys djgrantb, preventing some of big jumps in share price Looks that one of the four market market makers has the order and is perhaps matching against the Walker Crips Group Share Incentive Plan as well.
