gbenson1: Nice to see consolidation in the sector, wonder if anyone has run the rule over WCW? Could be the reason the interims are later than last year!!

arthur_lame_stocks: There's an interesting announcement today. hTTps://www.investegate.co.uk/liontrust-asset-mgmt--lio-/rns/acquisition-of-majedie-asset-management-limited/202112070700037508U/ Liontrust, the specialist independent fund management group, today announces that it has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement (the "SPA") with founder shareholders (the "Founders") to purchase (the "Proposed Acquisition") the entire issued share capital of Majedie Asset Management Limited ("Majedie") for a total consideration of up to £120 million (the "Consideration"). Majedie is a well-established, UK-based asset management firm with a long-term pedigree in Institutional fund management, an area of increasing strategic focus for Liontrust. Majedie's assets under management and advice ("AuMA") as at 30 November 2021 were £5.8 billion1. Rob Harris, Chief Executive Officer of Majedie, will join Liontrust as Head of Global Institutional Business. Not a direct comparitor to WCW but it gives an idea of the sums being paid for assets.

value hound: Hi RM and Arthur. For once, I fully agree :-) and bought some last week at 30.15p. It's a tough one to value accurately IMO, but I don't intend to sell any sub 50p (m/cap £21m). But even that would be an absolute drop in the ocean compared with the valuation mooted for Succession Wealth as Arthur has pointed out in the link above; £8bn assets managed = £400m, WCW has £3.4bn AUM, valuation now <£13m (a little over NTAV); simplistic perhaps, but still...!

rainmaker: Hi Arthur and Co, I have been buying Walker Cripps(WCW) this morning, adding to my holdings and in many years of Stockmarket Value Investing, I cannot remember another Company that is both so massively and obviously undervalued. I'm going to be buying a lot more as IMHO at current levels its a gift or early Christmas present:-). AIMHO, DYOR as I always do mine regards

arthur_lame_stocks: There was an article on MSN this morning which I can't find now about a wealth manager with £8bn under management which has put itself up for sale at £400m. That makes WCW look dirt cheap if those sorts of prices can be achieved.

davydoo: it is bonkers Especially when you look at what they paid to buy £0.23bn of assets with Barker Poland in 2015, which was a good deal by todays prices, and assets are likely to be much higher now https://www.investegate.co.uk/walker-crips-group--wcw-/rns/acquisition-of-barker-poland-asset-management-llp/201503090700108435G/

chrisdgb: Well, bid for Charles Stanley this morning at relatively prudent valuation, even on a direct read across that would be circa 115p per share for WCW.....!!

glawsiain: Simon thompson at IC covers WCW. He last wrote after the interims: "underlying pre-tax profit increased by almost two-thirds to £394,000 on revenue up 16 per cent to £15.4m in the six-month trading period, buoyed by a £500m year-on-year increase in assets under management and administration (AUMA) to £5.3bn, and a good showing from the company’s structured products investment division. Discretionary and advisory funds increased by a quarter, and Walker Crips’ wealth management arm (accounting for 10 per cent of AUMA) is now seeing the benefits of its rising recurring revenue. Offering a near 5 per cent dividend yield, priced on a modest 10 times annual operating profit to enterprise value (Walker Crips has net cash of 14p a share on its balance sheet), and rated on a 27 per cent discount to book value, there is value here. I am not the only one who thinks so as non-executive director Lim Hua Min purchased 200,000 shares around the current price last month."
