The Sunday Times today on the house market:

"March was the busiest month for a decade. More sales were agreed on March 23 than on any other day in the past ten years, according to the property website Rightmove. A day later, a record 9.1 million people clicked on to the property portal, an average of 6,300 visits every minute."

With house sales a key leading indicator of carpet sales...

Think so, at least. Loads of scenarios going on here, but I have a feeling us minority shareholders won't be here next year. It doesn't suit Geoff Wilding,s plans, he stated 5 years ago that he wasn't in it for the long term.He must be getting bored now.Anyway well done Mr Wilding ,sort out Abingdon's bad quality and the idiot finance bloke at Victoria Carpets (If he's still there) and it's onwards and upwards.

Bit of luck there on my part. Quite a big spread on the Bed & ISA but the rise has sorted that out and more.If it continues of course ;-)

Don't worry about the technicalities,There will be another acquisition soon, could be another carpet manufacturer to help Abingdon carpets out ( better quality)

I'm feeling playful. 🤪😜Just when you thought it couldn't get better- those who like crosswords, ceo(a GP3 co)which is a London terminal, a type of cake, a girl's name, told me "you don't think I'm stupid do you? I have this big pile of cash & an eps enhancing deal is coming.."

Well the refinance has been a fantastic success. Funding secured long-term at a super low rate and flush with cash to do the big deals. Deals will be announced next I guess. It's looking good if they can land some half decent deals.

Yes, unbelievable demand being x7 over-subscribed - a fantastic deal at 3.6%. It just shows what a nonsense the discount rate is that they use in the annual report for impairment reviews, which from memory is way over 10%. The company is largely debt funded and so the cost of capital is way below 10% if they can borrow at 3.6%!

Anyway, a real vote of confidence. I think the acquisitions will be within a month or so. There is obvious high demand for spending on the home, as lockdowns end, and so they will want to push the button pretty quickly in my view. I suspect that some of the acquisitions are lined-up already and funding was the issue. Not any longer!

Topvest - you are a bit of a pessimist - they have raised the full Euro500m today at interest of 3.625%. Offer was 7 x oversubscribed and raises enough to repay all of the bond due to be repaid in 2024 which had a higher interest attached to it. This should give them all they need to finance the acquisitions they plan to make soon. Just not sure when that will be.

Well today's bond issuance announcements will take a week or two to close, but undoubtedly give Victoria the firepower for the acquisitions. I suspect we will get an acquisition later in March / April at a guess. £120m EBITDA is pretty impressive given lockdowns. Its all looking very good short-term. I will stick with it for now.

Could be a American Carpet manufacturing company or may be consolidate the rest of small UK manufacturing. Brockways , Adams Etc.All guess work on my part but correct on some of the past ones.Kidderminster carpet company's would fit in well with the midland distribution hub being so close, and in my opinion Kidderminster have always produced superior quality Carpets than Abingdon (Wales)

Record profits confirmed in today's trading update: £120 million EBITDA for 12 months ending December despite the lockdowns.

Topvest, you might be right (post 1570): VCP has also announced a bond issue for €350 million to pay for a "near-term" acquisition. Given the amount, it looks like a biggie!

They will presumably want to time the big acquisition to coincide with lockdowns ending. I do suspect that the long awaited deal is closing in: next month maybe?

It's his own company, retailers shops were open before Xmas.He was very busy then but work has tailed off since. Could be something to do with that Covid thing. What do think.

Your mate can't be working for a very good company then. VCP sales were UP through lockdown prior to Xmas according to the update.

Looks to be in free fall. Can't really understand it after the last report. I know from a carpet fitting mate that he isn't doing a lot because of the carpet retailers shops being closed (I realise VCP is not all carpet)When all this Covid gets sorted there is going to be that much floor covering that needs replacing it should be a boom time for the likes of Victoria PLC.
