It's his own company, retailers shops were open before Xmas.He was very busy then but work has tailed off since. Could be something to do with that Covid thing. What do think.

Your mate can't be working for a very good company then. VCP sales were UP through lockdown prior to Xmas according to the update.

Looks to be in free fall. Can't really understand it after the last report. I know from a carpet fitting mate that he isn't doing a lot because of the carpet retailers shops being closed (I realise VCP is not all carpet)When all this Covid gets sorted there is going to be that much floor covering that needs replacing it should be a boom time for the likes of Victoria PLC.

OK, thanks. I know that people are still buying carpets in the UK and as a potential customer I just wondered how they chose them. I'm surprised anyone would come and measure without being sure of a sale.

As I believe fitting is still going ahead in Britain. Shops have longer waiting list for fitting than normal and estimator can visit to measure at same time as bring samples

If you read the update you will see that "...nearly 75% of the groups turnover is outside UK.." and much of it is in hard flooring - tiles etc. So whilst the UK carpets are important they represent no more than 25% of the sales. Thus the UK lockdown rules are not as critical as they might first seem to be. This is now a group with worldwide spread

How do you choose carpets and floor coverings if all the stores are closed?

All spending on the home is going through the roof. No holidays. No hospitality spend. No travel spend. Spending on the home is all that is left and given you spend 24 hours a day in it, at the moment, why not? Looks like a major deal will be on the cards soon.

Castleford Tiger -

Not fussed either way. Have always gone for growth but last year showed that can suddenly disappear as can dividends but once paid dividends can be spent whereas disappeared gains often don't come back and one has nothing to show for one's investment. I am now of an age where income is important, and not only to pay grandchildren's school fees. One of my very long term holdings is still less than half what it was before the March fall.

I think it's admirable they are paying so much tax on their free shares. All they need to do now is get the share price moving so us shareholders can do our bit ;-)

Maybe they have been there longer but they are Non Execs and would not be part of the LTIP which is usually aimed at the Exec teams as it is in VCP
