26/12/2017 12:31 | Lots of collaborations to come over the next twelve months as the jungle drums do their work. ,However they do need to arrive at an orderly rate because it's obvious that in hindsight NR did the right thing with with the fundraise at the right time and were slightly caught out with them coming in quick succession. The thing I like was that a plan was in place should this eventuality occur and it has been implemented seamlessly, bloody good management and foresight! Slightly worrying is that they have had to work flat out to meet the orders but that should even out in the near short term as the new machine makes its mark. Biggest concern is that large companies have got in first and they are the ones most likely to take VRS out if the figures say it is a cost effective thing to do. Definitely a hold over the coming months. | luckyorange
26/12/2017 12:28 | If he thought it was a waste of time he wouldn't have got them made in the first place, and wouldn't have responded, would he? | club sandwich

26/12/2017 11:54 | Nagging feeling that we ought to leave 'our' very generous CEO in peace with requesting those robots....what a waste of his time-off...plus the cost...what's the attraction? Copy one in Lego if you're desperate... Scrooge | axotyl
26/12/2017 11:34 | " All about bulk commercialisation/sa Very possibly. Michelin are already masters at adding different materials to their tyres to the point where they can have different qualities at different areas of the tyres as witnessed in Moto GP. Bridgestone certainly need to look at their run flat tyres. I'm having to replace two tyres next week after less than 10,000 miles due to excessive wear on the insides. According to Honest John in the Telegraph it's caused by driving over and straddling speed cushions. It's a common problem apparently on tyres fitted to BMW 5 series. It will be interesting to see if VRS sell Nanene to any tyre manufacturer or have an exclusive deal with one manufacturer, assuming of course that graphene can enhance the quality of tyres. | sandbag
26/12/2017 11:15 | BTW - NR responded to a tweet of mine about getting a VRS robot at 10.15 last night, Christmas Day! The man never stops - which IMO is not a good thing, as he risks burn-out... | club sandwich
26/12/2017 11:13 | pcjoe - that's an interesting point you raise: what premium for exclusivity, when graphene/nanene is red-hot right now. I'd prefer to see a premium built into the per kg/tonne of nanene cost (with a guarantee from the client to purchase a minimum amount each year), so the more the client uses the more they pay for the exclusivity... | club sandwich

24/12/2017 20:04 | Last bit of graphene news before I take a day off: Inov-8, University Of Manchester Introduce Graphene In Running Shoes UOM - hmm, wonder where their graphene is coming from? (that's a genuine question, BTW, but I think I can guess...) | club sandwich
24/12/2017 19:30 | Yes I too enjoyed that interview! Much appreciated Curtain Twitcher and Happy Christmas to you too and all that post on this excellent BB. Fingers crossed for a very Prosperous New Year for all VRS Share holders, | bobsworth
24/12/2017 18:03 | Curtains: Thanks for posting a really interesting interview with The Prof. He puts a much wider perspective on the development of graphene than is usually discussed by we merry band of VRS navel-gazers. 20 years of development ahead of us before the new materials reach their full potential, eh? However lots to get excited about in meantime, with new materials like boron nitride where VRS seems to be in pole position. Talking of which, less than 3 months to the start of the F1 season. Perhaps NR could convince MacLaren to life the veil on the Nanene going into thier 2018 car. | shavian

24/12/2017 15:37 | 2D Materials Interview with Andrea Ferrari Graphene's good for more than just underwear. Listen to find out what else we can expect, and when. This text will be replaced Download this podcast Right click to save file (17 MB). Image credit: Andrea Ferrari. There have been many developments using 2D materials for other applications too. Among them, graphene oxide proved an effective filter for organic solutions. In addition, by adding a metal oxide to graphene, researchers at the Enlighten conference in October showed that it can function as a barrier layer or a tuneable capacitor. While at the Enlighten conference, we also spoke to Andrea Ferrari, director of the Cambridge Graphene Centre, about the current state of play in graphene research. More on how improvements in material processing are helping towards commercializing the wonder material is available in the in-depth article: Commercializing the 'wonder material'. 24/12/2017 14:45 | Yep, wishful thinking on my part I think, but NR didn't have to retweet it. Enough from me, back to the vodka. | realcooltrader
