Trump’s action on Huawei is cutting a swathe through US tech component manufacturers’ share prices, with an understandable knock on effect on the likes of IQE, down 9% yesterday. Any thoughts on the wider ramifications for UK trade with China, specifically for VRS collaborations there?

My pull on it is that Trump might just be interested in re-election next year, and will need to find favour with voters from those states where jobs are under threat from the trade war with China. President Xi also has much to lose from this posturing so I expect to see a softening of the rhetoric from both leaders before too much damage is done to both their economies.

The Huawei security threat is clearly an issue and Trump is right to take a stand, but I suspect that Huawei’s defiant response overnight may be part of the posturing, given the Chinese government’s undoubted influence there. I’m sure ways will be found by both sides to avert a catastrophic escalation of this war of words as they have a couple of weeks before the economic effects of the Huawei ban start to take effect.

However, I think we should be prepared for some short-term turbulence in all China-related share prices, including the likes of IQE, SMT etc. which could offer top-up opportunities at the risk of ‘catching falling knives’. NAI DYOR!

This is not a complaint. Just before Christmas last we had the RNS per day Adrenalin run.Now matching the go-for-five strategy we have paucity.I find it hard.

It's a British company rapidly founding its US presence inHouston . I suspect a VRS Inc in the near future.

bishop - ADVFN has a sister site in the USA - where there is some discussion of Versarien. But the site has pitifully few viewers and the forum design is not helpful.
