Furball - sorry, but a bed and isa isn't just a wrapper change - it's a sale and buy, and it does go through the market, which is why the 2 trades eventually show up in the daily trade list. However, since the broker knows the 2 trades are matched, he should charge a lower commission than is usual on a pair of trades, and it should be risk-free, at least as far as share price is concerned.

This explains it clearly: but Googling will find any number of similar explanations.

Probably not a good idea to be giving financial advice from stuff you've just 'cobbled together'.

Superg1,
Re:145p, anyone that held them more than a month has been in the red since, so getting back to that figure might see significant sells for those that regret buying.

You're probably right, it's probably me being lazy or a luddite doing it the way I did it. It's hardly a polished performance for an outfit of HL's size

It’s from Plathunter on the JLP thread, I’ll ask him if you don’t mind me using your post. It might be the instruction, cost me dearly, 8k, I wasn’t aware my instruction got lost in translation and no one would accept liability, no recording on the phone at the time and no advice on how to execute.

Chumbo, Same as me last year though they said there may be a little delay. As they take mere moments when one asks them to trade for one, "a little delay", one presumes, is a few minutes!!!! You realise, when you want a job done well, (you can only trust yourself) by doing it yourself.

Fireball, Where would that stand me if HL took 2 days to sell from my Share account and buy my stock inside and ISA last year, and in the process lost me over £2,000? If this has mileage, how can I contact you away from here?

That’s simultaneous in most people’s book lol. The market regulators have time to get there.

I wish someone would tell HL that. I instructed a B&I between accounts 2 days ago. Still waiting. They said the sale and repurchase would be simultaneous.

Some may be interested in these posts which I’ve cobbled together from PlattHunter on JLP, hope it makes sense for the ISA season.

A Bed and ISA is a wrapper switch. IT IS NOT a sale and purchase. it is just merely recorded as such in your dealing accounts purely for the purposes of crystalisation.

If you'd rather pay more just for the privilege of calling up a call center to pretend your some Fox of Paternoster Square then my advice for saving you a few quid on the process is moot. If you're Bed & Isa's are going to the market then you could be entitled to compensation. Calculated as the difference the spread plus fee's over the standard published switch fee plus interest.

Given that I'm a fully qualified solicitor, i'd happily take on a group action for everyone who's been paying too much for the Bed & ISA's.

@20k a year allowance, you could be owed quite a few quid that would buy you more (Changed 😶poetic licence) VRS tokens.

Like I said above though, if your broker has been executing Bed & ISA transactions on the market then you would have been needlessly, financially disadvantaged and your broker has an obligation to return you to what would be your correct position.

Bill, could I add my deepest condolences to those already expressed, a very sad time for you and your family. Not sure anyone can say anything that will really help, but take comfort in the knowledge that when the time is right you will be reunited.

130p seems to be a barrier, but the real barrier after that is 145p, which was the price the 3.5M shares were issued at in Sept.
