I wasn't suggesting VRS do it merely pointing out a business/planet saving opportunity, created by the 2D revolution. "Do you realize that we produce about 500 million pallets a year in the US alone to replace the worn pallets that we discard each year? The number of pallets out there is truly staggering. Nearly 2 billion wooden pallets are currently in circulation in the US with a majority of them replaced each year. This consumes an estimated 50 percent of the country’s annual hardwood harvest and is equivalent to 7.6 BILLION board feet of lumber. That’s enough wood to cover an area 10 times the size of New York city. This also represents a very significant market for the lumber industry to the tune of $6 billion in annual sales especially when one considers that roughly half of these pallets are intended to be used only once and then discarded. And since the pallets tend to be full of galvanized nails that are hard to remove, a large percentage of these single-use pallets usually end up in landfills."

Sometimes, just like the pallets, possibly the numbers stack up ! If this tax drives a trend for long lasting and recyable plastics, maybe graphene comes into play ? Just blue-sking the potential for vrs here :) indeed ultimately it's all a numbers game imo. best ellis

20pc - yes, but what is the profit margin likely to be for VRS for something as large volume and non-niche as pallets?

Hi Ellis. Yes, while we are busy thinking about space, Evs etc etc, that require many hours of testing and legislation. Imagine a company that could guarantee lightweight incredibly strong 1000 time plus use pallets & containers, that at end of life could be 100% recycled back into its own chain. Of course that company would need to have access to Vacuum Forming/ Injection Moulding oh and a good relationship with a company making the correct graphene enhanced polymers. That could be a multi/multi £million operation. I wonder how many millions of trees a year are used to create the millions of pallets created every year. Now that would help the planet. Don't we know someone who could do that?

Moving on.

It seems from posts that the new nomad is about to embark on the job of a real nomad, to start setting the foundation stones to build the knowledge base about VRS, and deliver that to new funds who would have an interest in such an exciting growing company.

I'm sure a few "how the hell did we miss that one" comments will reveal themselves in the coming years.

Good news for diligent PIs, bad news for funds, as there will be a growing list of missed opportunities out there.

In short analysts are dropping off due to some changes and so the feed off info for funds to pick from to invest in small caps is diminishing fast.

I think it's a restricted circular so I can't post it. There is a long document about it by a well known company in the space.

Not a bad thing re those analysts as it's often done with an agenda, BUT the funds are not happy with the ever-decreasing knowledge base.

So if you like research to dig out the AIM gems then it's just going to get better and better for PIs to do their own research and find some real bargains.

"China completes design of graphene composite film for light propulsion."

By Deyana Goh May 3, 2018

"China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), the rocket development arm of the Chinese space programme, revealed that it has designed a graphene composite film suitable for use in light-propelled spacecraft.

This is part of CALT’s research on graphene-based spacecraft propulsion, a new technology that converts light into electrical energy. The method utilizes a technology similar to the solar sail, which was already tested by Japan’s space agency JAXA during its IKAROS mission to Venus. Unlike the solar sail, however, the graphene sail will not use thin-film solar cells, but will instead be covered with graphene film, a two-dimensional material known for its strength and conductivity.

Like the solar sail, graphene-based propulsion will use radiation pressure, making use of solar energy for propulsion. However, according to CALT, research in China has shown that graphene can be up to 1000 times more effective.

Said Song Shenju, from CALT’s R&D centre, “Graphene propulsion will revolutionze the design of propulsion systems, and will open yet another door for humanity to explore outer space. However, the technology is still in its development phase and is still a long way from a prototype.”

The idea of graphene propulsion was first put forward in a paper published in 2015 by researchers from Nankai University, Tianjin. Currently, aside from China, the European Space Agency (ESA) is also researching the idea of graphene solar sails, in collaboration with the Graphene Flagship, a €1 billion EU research initiative."

Indeed mike. I misread the original statement re this event when published, thanks to rid for correcting - i didn't spot'foreign digatories' are invited to speak (closed session per neill tweet) on day 2 to senate committee. Which is even better, given Vrs are inaugral member nga industry council. This latest effort looks beefed up from what i thought was originally proposed ; it's a 2 day ('unprecented') graphene 'summit.' Which includes more representation from within the graphene industry generally, plus US govt departments and stakeholders attending, inc nasa. Premise is the same as before ie evidence gathering to inform and determine US govt graphene policy alongside it's national strategy goals - security, infrastructure, domestic industry competitiveness. As you say, the end goals look promising, for 'graphene' generally if/when the dollars flow, and especially for bona fide producer firms such as vrs. As such already recognised within the US nga - we are very well positioned. And so If the worlds biggest economy gets serious about graphene, alongside china, the UK, the EU, it's not a bad thing ! In fact, v good news. Aimo. Best ellis

Neil's quote that one of these companies alone (think he was referring to Aecom) could push our capacity limits made me think .He was talking about our capacity for making nanene I presume. But that isn't what we will be selling to aecom. So let's say AECOM takes 2 tonnes of nanene even at 5% loading by weight that equates to 40 tonnes of polygene. Now the profit margin on that is probably a lot more than 20% on that product. So what does that equate to as a profit margin on original nanene 200% 400%1000%?I have no real idea if these are figures are possible. Just put out there to try to get other views and get people thinking.

Correct ridicule - it's all about day 2. USA knows it's behind (UK) and doesn't have time on its side (China), otherwise would just replicate research at unis, geic, catapult centres. The ask is for creation of a USA graphene valley with gov support to grow domestic producers and entice VRS and others over to manufacture graphene and integrate it into US businesses to enable them and their products to be competitive. Zina basically said this on the space podcast

Savvy Investor is really just Savvy Trader.... one of the many I referred to when the share price stalled at 90p and 100pThe volatility attracts them, like moths to a lightbulb. Who can blame them? But hopefully some funds will start buying in to VRS and create a steadier ship.
