08/3/2019 14:26 | I think we need to put yesterday's 'investor presentation' into context. Neill and Chris had an 8a.m. meeting in London hence his very early train - it was the only time the meeting could be fitted in for both sides, as I recall it was with a 'potential investor' and he had another meeting after us Canacord as already mentioned. There may also have been other meetings not mentioned. Neill explained to some of us before sitting down that the idea of a working lunch was to provide a big picture view for potential investors, with some 'old hands' there that could provide independent views and judgement. He was asked if lunch could be recorded - no, but you can take notes, (I think only one did), but added: please think carefully about what you post. As always there was no non-public info' but additional 'colour'. There were indeed 12 of us plus Chris and Neill. During lunch Chris took over for about 10-15 mins whilst Neill ate. Venue was a private room in a pub, and lunch was a single course from a menu, and was good simple 'pub grub' with water, wine, coke etc. Neill started by saying whilst it would be a casual presentation (no literature or visuals), he welcomed interruptions so it was kept very informal and went in whatever direction those present wished to take it. Since it's been mentioned very specifically on the other thread - Aecom: he very carefully made it clear that the info' found, posted and discussed, had caused very big waves (my words) and had delayed the current project (I won't say how much here) but I got the impression this delay was in the past and wasn't related to current 'timetable' projections. And as we know Neill re-iterated on Twitter that there was no change to the published RNS'd timetable (March). Talk on the other thread about the value of this project being less than expected: my take is that in fact the value overall of this project/concept has expanded (significantly) in scope and size far beyond the original UK project brief, however the amount of polygreen eventually needed will not all come in in one magic huge order, but will be lots of 'relatively' small orders over time. Hence - in my view - the comments here about not coming up to expectations, and will depend very much on what those expectations are. What I would add is that within the context of what was said, I couldn't see a hint that suggested all was not well, or not going to plan - but we shall see. Neill tried to explain graphene related expectations - realistic and otherwise, and showed as a graph to explain where he saw the company on its journey. Essentially it was a flat line which then rapidly rose up enormously gradually rounded and just as quickly fell to almost the same level before a resuming a 'flatline' albeit with a very very gentle upward slope. As I recall it demonstrated levels of expectation / hype, and he pointed out where he thought we are now: namely just past the far side of the 'hill'. I don't recollect whether the expectation / hype level related to VRS or graphene generally. There was a lot of general strategy discussion and which geographic markets would most likely provide the greatest opportunity / reward (3), and I asked about Washington: Yes Neill is also very much part of day two (closed session). I asked what the objectives of the NGA going to washington are, but since it is sponsored by them I wouldn't be comfortable expanding on it here at this point in time. Suffice to say the USA is being left behind and they want that addressed in a practical way. There was a lot of talk about China and the complexities involved including potential IP theft. Neill explained that if we had signed that first deal (Feb last year) there is every probability our IP would have been ripped-off, but being very shrewd and careful and now with the heavyweight DIT and government support they had a very much clearer idea of what could be made to work, and were implementing that strategy. 'Lunch' was about two hours. Anyway - enough for one post - may add later. Best wishes - Spike | ![]() spike_1 | |
