The main sellers took Christmas off and returned to work yesterday. This is why we saw the increases between Christmas and New Year on low volume. It was basically PIs buying themselves more shares for Christmas presents. Like Superg1 said, it's a window into what the market would look like with Herald/Miton gone.

This is also why the trading is now returning to pre-Christmas pattern. They are selling into the recent rise.

Expect it to drift again in the 118-130 range until either the sellers are all sold out, or we receive a significant RNS.

Both of which I expect will happen soon :)

Which of the VRS team referred to going beyond the moon, in their seasonal greeting? And was it a hint regarding some connection with what China has just done? (Landed a craft on the far side of the moon this morning)

Still can't get an electronic quote to buy even though the price is slipping. Some bigwig hoovering these up but managing to drive the share price down at the same time. Wish I could do that!

I know TFC, but the interest in everything in the UK that I hold precious and he doesn't, might drop off if he is preoccupied with another country. We can only live in hope.

This may well be good news too

Mace has recruited Sean Gray from Aecom to be its director of transportation

Sean Gray said: “Across the globe, infrastructure investment is ramping up and there is a real need for high quality consultancy services to help clients deliver their projects more effectively. I am very proud to have been appointed to lead Mace’s transport consultancy team at such an important time. We are already delivering some fantastic projects and programmes across the globe, and there is huge potential for sustainable growth in a number of different regions and sectors.”

This could be another avenue for VRS as I am sure he will be well aware of Versarien given his previous position of head of infrastructure including working on Heathrow Terminal 2, Crossrail and HS2.

Mace by the way are HUGE and now a £1.97bn company, operating in 21 sectors

'A graphene-based chemical nose/tongue approach for the identification of normal, cancerous and circulating tumor cells.....'

'Conclusion.'

"We fabricated a functionalized graphene-based electrochemical sensor array and demonstrated its utility in cell sensing. Based on this sensor array, different cancerous, multidrug-resistant cancerous and metastatic human breast cells, as well as artificial CTC samples were differentiated. The biomimetic interactions between the sensor array and the cell surface and an ultrasensitive electrochemical strategy provided a high-efficiency binding event-signal transduction platform, which was instrumental in improving the sensing performance. Remarkably, full differentiation was achieved to discern different cell types at levels as low as 100 cells by using two graphene recognition elements, and the detection limit of cancerous cells reached the single-cell level. Furthermore, the majority of probe sets with two combined graphene probes achieved 100% classification accuracy, indicating that a simple sensor array had ample diagnostic capacity. The graphene-based electrochemical sensing platform presented here can more generally be applied to array sensor fabrication, representing a new method for future applications in clinical cancer diagnostics.

by SMA Cruz · 2016 Graphene: The Missing Piece for Cancer Diagnosis?

Sandra M. A. Cruz, André F. Girão, [...], and Paula A. A. P. Marques

'Abstract'

"This paper reviews recent advances in graphene-based biosensors development in order to obtain smaller and more portable devices with better performance for earlier cancer detection. In fact, the potential of Graphene for sensitive detection and chemical/biological free-label applications results from its exceptional physicochemical properties such as high electrical and thermal conductivity, aspect-ratio, optical transparency and remarkable mechanical and chemical stability......"

'6. Conclusions/Outlook

To summarize, we have highlighted the potential of graphene and its derivatives for detection and quantification of cancer biomolecules and cells. Furthermore, we also described numerous procedures capable of convert graphene via surface engineering into specific platforms for particular types of biomolecules or bioreceptors overexpressed by cancerous cells. The biosensing of cancer was discussed giving light to the synergistic properties of the graphene-based sensing entities that can simultaneously act as imaging and therapeutic agents. Additionally, the bioquantification of cancer biomarkers and cells was fully described giving particular attention to specific biomarkers responsible for well-known cancer types...."

'UK scientists test breathalyser for detecting early cancers

Major study at Addenbrooke’s hospital could lead to cancer detectors in GPs’ surgeries'

Press Association

Thu 3 Jan 2019 00.01 ;GMT

".....Initially, patients with suspected oesophageal and stomach cancers will be asked to try the test. Later it will be extended to include prostate, kidney, bladder, liver and pancreatic cancers.

The lead investigator, Prof Rebecca Fitzgerald of the Cancer ;Research UK (CRUK) Cambridge Centre, said: “We urgently need to develop new tools, like this breath test, which could help to detect and diagnose cancer earlier, giving patients the best chance of surviving their disease.

“Through this clinical trial we hope to find signatures in breath needed to detect cancers earlier. It’s the crucial next step in developing this technology.....”
