Lucky - given the 70k print I suspect it was an MM buying the afternoon sales and finessing the price, buying from traders seeing the US dropping.

S/b firms run books so any covering trades are traded through the market but if buyers and sellers net off then there’s no need and they book the spread as a profit. In most small cap stocks they will cover but in the more liquid ones they probably run MM style books, as they will in FTSE 100 shares.

Liquidity is pretty good in VRS but it seems a long time since regular 100k+ trades went through, which I suppose is reflective of a share register dominated by PIs. IIs will have to be patient when they want to play.

Sellers

First up VRS has been great for traders with volume and the share price

One largish seller finished at the end of last month and had been a ‘feature’;.

The Miton trust fund was active and had 840k left which is a good chunk less than November action.

Then you have those going short on the spikes BUT most of those won’t know about now spent selling.

Herald sold a small amount but it seems on another fund they bought just under 400k.

So the selling on spikes is probably traders shorting.

At some point it will cost them if they get the timing wrong.

Funds are the problem Fest not the fix, as I said 50 mill or so sold by them this year.

From yesterday's interims

"Our new graphene production equipment has duly arrived and will shortly be commissioned enabling us to produce sufficient amounts of Nanene to satisfy the current needs of the collaborations and anticipated orders. With our DIT secondees in place, and access to the engineers and scientists from leading universities such as Cambridge, Manchester and Warwick, we are continuing our focus on agreeing further collaborations and progressing our existing ones. We anticipate that this will lead to larger orders for our graphene products and the emergence of commercial products enhanced through the use of Versarien's graphene."

Thank you for that update Owenga and for all the other excellent feedback from the Pub session. All very helpful and very exciting!

I never thought I would get to the stage where weekends were not welcome but roll on Monday!
The ringing phrase from the Vox market pod cast for me was, “the AECOM deal alone, once it moves into production soon, will stretch our entire Nanene production capability”. Wow! That situation is just around the corner. Truly amazing.

From 15.30, makes me wonder if they were forward sold and then the mm went back to the market to buy them?

Not sure how it works with the spreadbets though and whether actual shares are traded through the market, could be a s/b?.... one for lovat?

Yes, lets hope so Scruitable, VRS has everything going for it and as you suggest VRS is only just begining to get noticed.
I also agree that Brexit will not make any difference, custmers are going to need VRS products wherever they are in the world.

For the first time in my memory strong upward share action during Thursday/Friday has NOT been followed by strong selling and downward retraction of the share price before the weekend close.

That suggests that the wider market is wising up on the ultimate giant potential of this company. If this is fact, then one would expect strong further upward share price adjustment on Monday.

I honestly don’t think Brexit will make one bit of difference to VRS, if anything by making its product cheaper due to a poor exchange rate it will make the projects of graphene more affordable concerning U.K. production.

If it’s future Chinese production, then cross border exchange rates would boost sterling profits.

Win win.

Fest - there has to be a buyer lurking who is working his order lower as the sell orders come in. It could be a shorter mopping up and throwing in the towel given their radio silence?

There can’t have been much retail buying in the last hour given US drop so we may see a print later or if it was a very large order a delayed print next week!

If it’s a shorter closing or a large buy order being filled in lots of small clips there may never be a print, depending on how the broker reports trades.

If I were short I would have been spooked by the VRS news and BB chat over the last couple of days.

I have a small amount of cash put to one side should we have a market meltdown after the vote next week. I hope VRS is not affected, but if it is, it will only be for the short term and I may be able to pick a few up on the cheap.

I look forward to hearing from Logan Scout, who might shed some light on why we are seeing large quantities being apparently sold, yet the price remains steady, and we are nicely blue. There's got to be a hidden buyer.

DOW was always massively over valued, FTSE looks cheap and has Brexit mostly priced in imo, VRS if it delivers what we think will be where investors want to be, it’ll all look after itself.

The whole bear case built around "real" competitors having sold a few graphite enhanced excavation bucket liners to a likely cousins co in the Oz Northern Territories or wherever - To constantly equate VRS to FRG & others of that ilk is ridiculous given the breadth of the VRS reach and the latest AEcom news...

No wonder the bears are quiet today - Embarrassed?

I knew it, there's more cash on the sidelines than ever before. It's gonna be great, especially if it coincides with good news, and sellers drying up..... then shorts closing.... delicious!
