"Once the results are available and agreed, I believe the next stage is agreement on the valuation process by each province."

that doesn't sound like a quick process, in fact exactly the opposite - and that's before HMG gets involved...

When China and Korea were mentioned someone asked what about Japan. Seems the European Flagship is partly addressing that next month:

What I find interesting is how VRS can tap into the revenue created by incorporating graphene into the products created as a result of collaborations.

I am sure there are many possibilities ranging from one off consultancy fees and selling graphene all the way through to joint ventures and beyond; how you value that contribution is key to future profits.

NR has stated "Our strategy is to work with the best one we can, demonstrate and prove on a non-exclusive basis through a collaboration and then target the market.". When you think about it that is a very aggressive and confident strategy, "work with he best" and then "target the market", where does that leave the original collaborator in that particular market? I suppose they have a choice, be the original collaborator and get an initial advantage over your competitors, or be left behind. This must be a bit of a shock to some large global companies who could easily swallow up VRS at it's current size.

I would like to see some significant progress across several sectors and solid growth of the business, not just the share price, to safeguard the future.

I believe NR when he says he has a plan, I would just love to know what it is.

williocc & johnveals,

Thanks for your answers last night.. I think I'll take john's advice and talk to a tax specialist.

Loved Hew's comment that he's not bought shares, he's invested in a company. I bet many of us feel the same way judging by the turnout at the AGM.

We don't seem to have an indication of date when VRS will have the test results. NR was very quick to say they have lots of results but no further information on the province results. Once the results are available and agreed, I believe the next stage is agreement on the valuation process by each province.

"Versarien plc

("Versarien" or the "Company")

Appointment of Head of Research

Versarien plc (AIM: VRS), the advanced materials engineering group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Stephen Hodge as the Company's Head of Research.

Dr Hodge was previously a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Cambridge Graphene Centre at the University of Cambridge, Teaching Fellow in the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Graphene Technology and bye-fellow at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge. He graduated from the University of Bath with a MChem in Chemistry and then obtained his PhD in Nanomaterials Chemistry at Imperial College London, before joining the Cambridge Graphene Centre in 2014. His research interests cover the large scale development of nanomaterial-based dispersions, inks, coatings and functional 2d and 3d architectures for their incorporation into flexible electronics, sensor applications and energy storage/generation devices.

Dr Hodge will be primarily responsible for overseeing all the Company's graphene and other 2d materials research and development activities, including the Company's participation in the recently announced Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre at the University of Manchester. He will be based as an industrial visitor at the Cambridge Graphene Centre, additionally fostering the training of students in graphene technology and developing joint projects.

Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, commented: "I am delighted that Stephen has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Research.  He has been working at the forefront of graphene and other 2d materials development for some time and his leadership of our R&D function will ensure that Versarien remains at the very cutting edge of the development of 2d materials and their applications."

"That being said, with the massive incentives and funding available, many companies with little potential get put on life support and live much longer than they should."

they should go nuts for VRS then - the real deal, with nanene tested by the Chinese and apparently liked by them very much...

Zina’s blog on her China visit last month. (Presumably she’s now in Texas waiting to receive our VIPs).

This bit is particularly pertinent:

“During the visit of the Supercarbon Gaphene Center, we discussed the business model of graphene industry parks in China funded by either the central government or by private investors. China’s rapid pace in graphene commercialization is quite astounding and government support is plentiful in the form of multi year tax exempt status, reduced or waived rent on the land on which these industry parks are built, infrastructure etc.

That being said, with the massive incentives and funding available, many companies with little potential get put on life support and live much longer than they should. That is perhaps a problem we see more clearly in China ….MANY MANY graphene contenders, companies, startups but difficult to weed out the ones with true potential from the ones artificially sustained by constant infusion of cash. The bubble will most likely burst at some point.”

Rule breaking seems to be grist to the mill for the verbalising shorters lovat, they won't care because they are untouchable.

I have heard of longs (big buyers) routing it through s/b companies to avoid paying tax and wonder if shorts could do the same through various avenues. Of course , no one company would accept the risk but if it was done through several it may be an option.

Lucky - it is compulsory to report a -0.2% to the regulators and it goes public at -0.5%. *Oops I forgot* will not go down well with the regulators but I accept your point that unless someone informs it will probably be missed🤔. An individual with 4 short positions each of -0.15% with different brokers is unlikely to be picked up.

This is a grant funded 5 year project 2013-18, featuring cambridge uni. I've posted it for a flavour of big company interest in graphene, plus the ambition of prof ferrari - now vrs. Aimo.

"At present, the realisation of an electronic device (such as, e.g., a mobile phone) requires the assembly of a variety of components obtained by many technologies. Graphene, by including different properties within the same material, can offer the opportunity to build a comprehensive technological platform for the realisation of almost any device component, including transistors, batteries, optoelectronic components, photovoltaic cells, (photo)detectors, ultrafast lasers, bio- and physicochemical sensors, etc. Such a change in the paradigm of device manufacturing would revolutionise the global industry. UK will have the chance to re-acquire a prominent position within the global Information and Communication Technology industry, by exploiting the synergy of excellent researchers and manufacturers......"

".....Considering the private sector, we have already indentified tens of companies that will benefit from our work. To achieve the final goal of graphene-engineering, and to ease the transition to commercialisation, we have strong alignment with industry needs and engage as project partners potential users, as well as academic partners. These include Prof. Yang Hao and Queen Mary University London, Co-I of our Graphene-Engineering programme grant, Nokia, Aixtron, DuPont, Hardygreys, Novalia, Camlase, Momentive, PeL, Johnson Matthey, Victrex, Plastic Logic, Emdot, Bandera, Tonejet, Agilent, NanoBeam, Philips, Polyfect, Dyson. Many more are expected to join and benefit directly or indirectly from our work."

"The team involves researchers from CNIT, Ericsson, IMEC, Nokia, Nokia Bell Labs, AMO, ICFO and the University of Cambridge"........"This paper makes a clear case of why an integrated approach of graphene and silicon-based photonics can meet and surpass the foreseeable requirements of the ever-increasing data rates in future telecom systems," says Andrea C. Ferrari, professor at the University of Cambridge, Science and Technology Officer of the Graphene Flagship and Chair of its Management Panel. "The advent of the Internet of Things and the 5G era represent unique opportunities for graphene to demonstrate its ultimate potential," he concludes."

Ewads I guess it was the exhuberance of a new investor who really believes in his investment :) that and I always call it how a see it type of person, no back doors. No offence taken, yes I would love it for VRS to be mega, if not for my gain for my kids to have a firm footing in life to push on from there, even if I had it ‘made’ I’d still be working and I’d expect the same from them as I have a very high work ethic, regards Haz

As said in such circs the MS don’t want stock.

As posted at one point in time the max I could buy within the spread was 400 shares.

The plan I believe for the shorts was to exit via primarybid and it failed badly.

As I keep saying I can’t give too much detail out.
