13/10/2018 09:01 | Donk - don’t waste your time as it’s a fairy tale! LuckyO may try and convert you😁 There’s a bit of fun and games on this board about secret signals but it’s all conspiracy theory and may involve eating a hat! Bootie I think was most recently under threat of cloth digestion although the statute of limitations must have expired..... | lovat scout
13/10/2018 08:55 | "This is a summary of a set of tightly written rules to heavily tax anyone whose SIPP goes over the LTA, there is little you can do to avoid this but there are a couple of traps you can steer clear of." The message is clear: 'Invest for your retirement, but don't be *too* good at it, otherwise we'll tax you at 55%'... | ![]() club sandwich
13/10/2018 08:51 | Cheers Haz , we're probably in same position. If VRS do well we both prosper. For some obscure reason I had found your top up comments amusing. Definitely no offence, each to their own on investing. | ![]() ewads

13/10/2018 08:42 | superg 1,,Yes the shorts have a new tactic they go crying to the authorities and force companies to make statements about previous companies directors have been involved with that did not do well etc etc. They did this at TERN and smashed the S/P. | ![]() wardy333

13/10/2018 08:42 | I don't mind the non verbal shorters, i.e. the ones who don't find it necessary to trash a share and gloat at shareholders as well as crying wolf when they are given some back. The use of inside information and the impression that they think they are untouchable whatever they may do or say is also galling . I hope superg is successful in his endeavours. | ![]() luckyorange
13/10/2018 08:23 | Yeah great info by Mike there. They had all planned an exit that went wrong so now have to some up with another plan which as we can all see is trashing the company. Now for my plan and digging that slots in wonderfully. | ![]() superg1
13/10/2018 08:22 | Would add 're shorts that Mms... some not all .... are notorious for assisting some who are short to close. Is truly a bent market at times. In long run true value will always win out if there. | ![]() meganxmas

13/10/2018 08:08 | I have been investing in smaller companies since the late 80's so know how volatile the market can be. I am also aware of the the tactics employed by those that are short. They try to take advantage of less experienced investors to create fear. They get satisfaction out of others that lose money which just shows how low grade they are. Some of the shorts last week really did show their true colours. There's only one short I have any respect for and that is Simon Cawkwell as he used to go through company accounts and identify the dud companies using his forensic accounting skills whether it be Amber Day,Polly Peck etc. I personally don't believe in shorting as I am positive in disposition and like to see people succeed.Anyway on a short you can only double you investment. I prefer to use my time to find companies that will multibag over several years. On the volatility last week you have to remember the price showing on the screen just reflects what the marginal buyers and sellers are prepared to pay at that point in time. If you are a longer term investor you take it in your step. You can't expect to make multiples on your money without risking losing your capital-that is the way of the world. A large amount of volatility has to be expected with high growth companies. Also it is important not to get too excited by "paper profits" as until it is money in the bank it means nothing. I had several friends who were dotcom paper multi- millionaires for a few months and within a year were back to where they started. | ![]() chillpill

13/10/2018 08:02 | Lovat If they are T20 type shorts would they be declarable. But given the type we are dealing with here when does honesty about positions ever come into it. As I say I can't put too much detail on here. | ![]() superg1
13/10/2018 07:57 | Nothing for VRS so I suspect 2% figure is either rubbish or several small non declarable positions. Link to FCA website shows who is doing what and is quite interesting. PB/Darwin Strategic/LO( crew that moved from Henderson) .....hmmmm. | lovat scout
13/10/2018 07:54 | Exactly grabs, while we wait for intl iso standards agreement, local national graphene industries should already be seeking to organise themselves around the iso graphene standards now, in order to be credible and produce bonafide market places. This is simple economics, standards that bring confidence and market 'busyness' to emerging industries. Thus, geic (and the g stands for graphene) should only partner with firms that can produce graphene per iso standards. It is surely important for uk plc to get this right. Hopefully when geic opens dec, all be clearer, and either way vrs is sitting pretty. Aimo. Best ellis | ![]() ellissj
13/10/2018 07:50 | Can someone on twitter tell Mike E smith aka Langdon that it's great news to know 2% are short. That tends to fit with what I'm working on so if he is right we have 3 mill of buying to come. That will be nice when they run into big news near term. In other news I think I've have spotted something. :-). That bit of cotton I go on about. I don't want to go into it too deeply. First up is to establish whether certain sectors that deal with sort of thing are interested in and of course you have to be sure you're not disrupting something already in play. The 'plan' went badly wrong didn't it Mike. | ![]() superg1

13/10/2018 07:26 | "... Five years after the start of the project, more and more consumer products are released on the market with alleged graphene content – that is, carbon in single atomic layers with a characteristic hexagon shape that gives the material superior properties. Often sports products are said to be stronger or cooler through the use of graphene. But it's difficult to know how much graphene they actually contain, and what quality of graphene. "I understand, standardisation and validation of what graphene really is, it's central now," said EU Commerce Commissioner Cecilia Malmström. ..." | ![]() grabster |
